First real test. Took a lap around my house. The RX1 motor is a high revving little bastard with plenty of HP for this application. A blip of the throttle and it wants to wheelie out. Now it's time to build out seats, frame, cab, fuel tank, figure out proper track tension, etc.

Does that sort of thing need a semi flat road bed? Or can it just kinda churn through variable terrain?

It doesn’t need a flat road bed. Won’t climb like a sled but intent is snow covered mountain roads and Nordic grooming.

There is a video of Big Sky flying lift towers today. Evidently there is a mistake and they drop a sheave assembly. It lands on a PU truck.

I saw a sandbag that was balancing an asymmetric crossarm fall during a lift install years ago in Vermont; that was sufficiently scary and it wasn't even near me. The mandatory hard hat didn't seem likely to help much.

Also, while I recognize this is news because it's rare, I still think the people climbing towers to guide in and bolt on crossarms are at least a little nuts.

That might take a while to replace. I'm guessing it's not just off the shelf parts. I suppose you could get everything else ready, but you can't pull the cable until that is in place again. Correct?

More than a little. The completion of flying towers was usually followed by copious consumption of solvents.
