Been spending the summer up near Great Falls, and I got to say there’s some gems up here. Great break from the Big Sky epicenter of douche dumb.

Yeah IDK. Big ranch pricing is pretty nutty. It is 1900+ acres on the west side of the Bridgers. Mike seems to know what he's doing.

    Edit to add:

Buddy of mine went up to ride Shafthouse this AM and spotted a mama and two cubs just off the road below the lake. FWP happened by and got out the binos. 100% confirmed mama griz and two cubs.

LOL that's not a big ranch. 3 sections and a Locati going for over half of what CA went for is crackhead behavior.

Who owned/owns the ranch now? Same family since early Montana days?

Disregard: California family owns it I see

    Seriously.

Went for a nice dirtroad cruise and swim with the dogs.

Superior- prob too low but a high water belt ck float starting up high and going through sluice boxes is pretty rad. I have quite a few friends from GF and there is plenty of cool stuff around until the bozeman crowd keeps heading north...

My kid sent me some pics yesterday so i’m going to act like a proud dad and throw them up here.

Him and his buddies hiked out to get some July turns in on something called “The great one.”

Snow appears to be a combination of sun cupped corn.

He said it was a fun day. Saw a mtn goat on the hike out.

Proper summer ski attire, shorts & a smile.

According to his Strava page it was just over 7 miles roundtrip. He decided to stay in Bozeman for the summer and is having a great time.

Meanwhile Dad is getting his ass kicked on a fire in Southern Utah in 105+ deg temps and wishing it was winter already.

The great one on 4th of July is a bozeman tradition. Goats as a bonus. As long as no one has a slide for life.

Maybe a wee bit of rain as well. Please, no more dry lightning.

I’m hoping that fire by Canyon Ferry burns in some new tree skiing potential like the Deep Creek fire

Looks to me like the burn area is all pretty low and south-facing. Those foothills don't hold much snow there. Sounds like they almost got that one contained though, which is good.

Yeah, wishful thinking I guess. The fire in the Big Belts made the road access harder with drifting but the tree skiing is good once and a while because of it.

Headed up to Polebridge for Og's wedding this weekend and got to float the boat in our two favorite bodies of water, Kintla Lake and the North Fork Flathead. Luckily had great air quality and was able to stay cool in and on the water. Wish Glacier was flip flopped with Yellowstone location wise; love the peaks and water up there. Had a great burger in Helmville on the way home yesterday!

Took my kids fishing up to the outlet of Kintla a few years - gorgeous country up there and really fun fishing.

What portion of the N. Fork did you float?

Polebridge to Big Creek Campground. About 18 river miles and 4.5 hours in the canoe.
