2012 Montana Conditions, Stoke and Whatev Thread
Pretty fun today. Didn’t see anyone except maybe the guy with a big mustache from a distance. Challenger rib and BRT were skiing great. Fun high speed shredding.

Shared first chair with Hobie. Nice guy. We skied together most of the morning then met up with some of my buddies. Snow was nothing like Toasty's photo of Showdown but there were plenty of good turns.
Unfortunately, light was meh first couple of laps.

This seems way too coincidental.

I’m old, and I now really enjoy low key mom and pop lift riding on sunny days…no lift lines anywhere, no rah rah, just chill. Glad Montana has so many low key places. I’m not cut out for fancy pants.
Fun day slowing down at Showdown with the kiddo.

I hope your friend is OK - but on its own merits, this post is funny as shit. Thanks for the tourguiding and photog-ing on Friday, looks like Monday is the next dont-miss. See you on the early shift
Bridger today, parking lot full like weekday mid season, more dogs than the dog park, bar open, still a week til the chair turns. Love it.Life is tough. It's tougher when you're stupid

Nice Trackhead. Skiing with kids is the best
So much fun at Big Sky today. No speed limit steep chalk and no lines. My kind of day. I’d take that over most pow days anytime.
The kind of chalk where you can lean a little forward set an edge and get a face shot or just rail high speed carves. What I imagine big wave surfing feels like. Then it transitioned to crud but super rippable still. I’ve been skiing my Drew Tabke skis and having a blast working on using the centered stance but learning when to be forward. Super versatile style of skiing and better than being over the tips all the time I think. I like dorking out on technique so forgive me. The stoke kept building all day.
Then this guy showed up.
Me and my son got to ski a run with him and a rat pack and say hi for a minute. So fun. Like 20 people following him around, shredding hard, and being stoked to be around the guy.
Best day of the year for me.

My kids weren’t too familiar either but my wife spotted him. Crazy how iconic looking he is. Even without the mohawk showing and with goggles on you know that is Glen Plake. It was fun to tell the kids his story, and even give a little lesson about the benefits of being sober for some people. And just ski with the guy that made it possible for free skiers to be able to make a living doing this sport. I sure it’s a bit annoying to be an icon but probably pretty cool to be around all that stoke. Plake is a true legend of skiing and you could feel it.

I’ll be at Big Sky on Tuesday and Wednesday… skiing with a local BS friend on Tuesday but looking for Mags to meet up with on Wednesday. Would be nice to meet some of you!

Damn, wish I would have seen Plake today, would have loved to point him out to my kids. Great day skiing with the fam. Pre-Christmas is my favorite time of the season because the resort is so empty, and having great snow just makes it that much better.
Singlecross I will be there solo Wednesday and Thursday, pm if you want to hook up.

Ha!! I saw a legit looking van in town a couple nights ago with Elan and Roxa stickers and throught, "I wonder if Plake is in town?"......guess he was.
Not ideal, still a chance during shoulder on private, but I'm not holding my breath.
PM incoming.
