I would love it if BB required proof of vax for those over 12 years. Do it Bob!

Anybody know for sure if the Discovery bike park reopened this weekend like it was supposed to? It was closed all August, I've seen no updates on social media, they have an outdated message on their voicemail...wtf. Hoping to go next Saturday.

2012 Montana Conditions, Stoke and Whatev Thread
Welp, got my ass handed to me by the 50k Rut today.
Started out strong and kept pace through most the morning, but unfortunately had to end my race after nearly 25 miles and 12000 ft climb and descent.
Multiple factors led to the choice. I hurt my left ankle in the boulder fields below the N Summit snowfield, which got worse as the miles wore on. Also got a blister so large on my right it covers my heel. Wasn’t getting salt/electrolytes at a high enough rate, which led to quads spasming on the uphills.
But the biggest problem was the elevation. The lack of O2 just ate away at the muscles and brain. Training up at the ‘bowl near missoula helped, but it couldn’t cut it. Started getting sloppy on the ridge, and making mistakes on very unforgivable trail conditions. Stumbling, tripping, etc.
Feeling down, but overall I made the smart choice. Couldn’t risk an injury right now. Still had to hike down after dropping out, which added some miserable miles as a cherry on top.
But seeing the really big in summer was a treat.
I’ll try again another year.

Running on shit like that is totally fucking insane. I did the the whole Ridge Trail this summer with a couple buddies. Hiked/walked/scrambled most of it and jogged for like 3/4 of a mile on the "smooth" stuff near Saddle just to see what that was like. With a couple long rests and gapering it took us 10 hours. The all time record is like 3 something I think. Insanity.

I don't know for sure but buddy who runs hot dog cart in town(and patrols there) was planning on being there yesterday and today. Cant remember what they were doing but they just got done load testing the lift right before this weekend. Disco isn't very good about the social medias. Supposedly they're going RFID this winter as well. If I see any of the guys that run bike park this week I'll ask but it should be open.

Had a few beers at Lone Peak Brewery and found these awesome Lonnie Ball photos on the wall (let me know if I shouldn't be posting them and I can delete them, they are just shitty pics of pics I took with my cell). They got me super fired up for winter:
Tattersall in the N Bridgers:
Schmidt in NW Direct
How fucking classic are those shots??!! Pretty sure Og would send NW Direct hawter than that though It's gonna be my second year with a Bridger pass plus a Big Sky pass (flex 3). Pretty fired up.
A fun one we got to ski over memorial day:
Also managed a pilgrimage to Mt Hood. Place is awesome. You can rip super fast corn laps from Palmer down to Magic Mile OB on smooth snow (like 6 turns in 1500 vert) while you wait for the ski camps to clear out. Then all the ski racers leave at 11:30 and I was laying down 12 (mostly midway) laps an hour on Palmer from 12 - 2. I got busted for coming in to the (non-existent) lift line 2 hot. Too much fun!!
Probably a month early for getting fired up, but I just finished buying the Big Sky passes and I'm ready.

I would love to know exactly how many BS Golds they sold this year. My guess is not too many. Of the 15-20 people I have talked to/heard of with BS passes for this year I know of 2 others who went full gold.

Hey Superior,
You probably are six passes less into the same pass program. FML. Haha.
Will do. Had a blast ripping the FRS last spring at Big Sky. Probably not a hard snow ski, but I was figuring them out Love that run under Challenger where you ski the spine lookers right of the lift, bank a left under the lift pole, hit the sweet jump (ha) onto the main face, then straightline for the big talus wave and pretend your surfing as you rip a big turn right across the face of it then head for the next talus wave and air the little gap jump onto the road. I could ski that all day, but Nest kept making me go to the Headwaters and ski good snow instead!! The FRS could use a tune up.
