@skared - March 7 thru 15 are in house dates. That's assuming ya fly over on Friday the 6th and out on Sunday, the 15th.
We plan on setting up the fund for a few mags to get the ski skolarship funding their lodging and lift tickets again so think on some good mags who could use a hookup or just really deserve it otherwise.

The way you guys got after it this year, your team would be a welcome addition to the Grumble.

Nope, the storm fizzled. First hour on Andesite was fun with a few inches of fresh on the groomers.

Current Montana conditions: Wet to PNW wet, snow up high. For the next 5-7 days. IOW Typical May weather.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

^^^^^ JFC, you are not just kidding. I went to buy a 4x4x12 footer the other day, and guy was gonna charge me $60. I said negative on that and went to the other side of town, 4 miles, and got one for $36 at the other lumber yard. Fucking fuck.

Nice pics Norseman. I cannot figure how to quote but what is that mountain with the two peaks with all the little rolls in the bowl below the peaks and then it looks like it gets a bit steeper before getting into the valley bottom? That looks like it would be a mega fun low angle jib run!
Is Ward Mountain ever skiable top to bottom? We took our bikes up that one last year and it was awesome. 5,000 vert with no climbs on the way down.

Was I imagining or dreaming that, once the new Ganj-dola is 100% complete, Big Sky will ski until Memorial day conditions permitting?

That would be so awesome if they stayed open until Memorial Day. Do it!!!! I got the blue pass with tram add on for next season. Pretty stoked. I heard that rumor to Bunion but I can’t remember where.

I think May skiing was a covid boom years idea. According to what I heard they lost big money late season this year. Probably why it's weekends only in late April next year. They are giving up the ski instructor conference.

Yep, heard that rumor since covid as well and figured it was a pipe dream. It will make zero dollars being open through May unless they really ramp up the apres and get some bigger names to play spring concert series or something.

My "guess" is if they were to do this it would be Fri. Sat and Sunday only.

I know xtal has gone with the weekends-only approach this season. They paired it with a lot of advertising, but it does seem to be bringing in enough people so far. Sucks for me to lose weekdays but at this point in the season most people have switched gears.

But if they keep doing it during high-snow years, then more people will be willing to go for corn.

In a perfect world they would do this and pair it with some more variety of the music. DJs are great and fun, but you gotta do something else. Remember Big Sky Big Grass? Pepperidge Farm remembers.....what about that one time they had Galactic at the base. That was awesome. Do alternating DJs and actual bands. If they have a crowd and the bar setup people will come. We are starved for music in SWMT and Spring seems like an exceptionally dry time before Pine Creek/Old Saloon/Kettlehouse etc start having music later in the year.

2012 Montana Conditions, Stoke and Whatev Thread

Are the forums fixed? I still can’t attach pictures.

Saw Shredeagle post a couple pics, but I have to formally apologize to him for what was probably the nastiest bushwhack I’ve had outside of the PNW.

We went out last Saturday to potentially ski Elephant Mountain, and ended up “exploring” the drainage in Hyalite that ends in Grotto Falls.

There were some new terms we invented on this adventure, including “waterfall pillows.” The cliff bands we found were also not on the topo. Couple wet slides made it interesting.

    Nice day, in general.
