    Winner!

Here for a hybrid work/vacation trip. First time to the Big Island and brought some family.

I don't think he's put a shirt on for 5 days. Kid has found his groove.

    Took a road trip yesterday

Instagram spray inbound, but here's some pics and vids from the Beehive Ridge traverse last summer. Pretty cool if you're looking for a day hike adventure. It's no Hawaiian vacation, but it is pretty.

Very nice! A couple summers ago we did Spanish Creek to past Beehive Lake and should have just continued over the ridge and hitchhiked to Riverhouse for fried chicken. Instead we hiked all the way back. That was a big day.

Impressive way to actually conserve land. I was hoping that Ted Turner would do something like this with the Flying D for posterity like make it the "Ted Turner State Park". With Ted's health challenge from Lewy Body Dementia that may not happen.

One of the reasons it was so painful to watch the Falcons crater in the Super Bowl against New England is because Arthur Blank is by most if not all reports just a quality human being.

Ted, for better or worse has always been near the top of my list for inviting to a dinner party if I could invite anyone I wanted. It's going to be interesting to see where his family takes the company when he goes.

Talked w a turner employee out Spanish Creek a couple weeks ago. I had heard his land was going to the state when he passed. Not so. Into a trust.

And hey, we're showing our transition from ski season? I'll play.

After being in Livingston for the winter, I needed to get back to Tucson and complete my 'reverse snowbird' migration. The morning of Thursday April 27th I was in Billings, getting something fixed on the truck that the Chevy dealer botched on the Tuesday before. Drove through legit blizzard conditions south of Lander, overnight in Provo, south to Tucson on Friday. 103* passing through Phoenix. A weekend of unpacking/repacking, and off to Puerto Penasco, Sonora, MX, on Monday. Well, we tried anyway, camper died crossing the Rez towards Sells, bit of head scratching, finally figured it was an alternator, fixed with a spare on board, but retreated back to Tucson for a fresh start on Tuesday am. Everything awesome this time, Cross the border by 9am, parked in the RV park by 10. Nice! Settled in to a 10 day stretch, with a regatta right in the middle of it.

I want to go sailing on one of those boats.

Meanwhile, yesterday I visited one of the coolest beaches I've ever been to

That's the downside to most of the Hawaiian islands--really limited sailing.

Great windsurfing/kiteboarding/wingfoiling spots, but some combination of wind/currents/deep channels stops random beach operators from having a fleet of hobie cats that they'll let almost anyone take out for a few bucks.

Not that there's a shortage of other things to do.

As far as activities, I’m content bobbing in the ocean and practicing my photography.

Heading home today and already looking at when I can get back. This place is sooooo cool.

It really is. My first and only trip was a few years ago (Kauai and Big Island) and I've been trying to get back ever since. Snorkeling with a GoPro was my favorite. So fricking cool.

We snorkeled one day. It was fun. I had a turtle come up behind and and swim right underneath me. I was terrified for a sec.

I was snorkeling across the bottom off Provo once, and noticed a stingray buried in the sand a foot or two underneath me. Ir stayed put, but I got quite a start. Steve Irwin died that way a couple years later.

Aerial show has started on Lone Mtn. Chinook set either the tower crane or one of the support towers for the new tram. Its been kind of rainy and foggy so hard to tell. At any rate, yeah I know its all about the skiing but the visual impact of the new tram will be significant. There were people who bitched when the old tram had a light left burning all night.

It will be different, that's for sure. The original tram was well hidden. I guess I'm not sure how much choice they had in placing the new one, given the need to get away from the rock glacier.

I'll miss the unobstructed view of the upper mountain. But I will withhold judgment until I actually see what it looks like.
