Fantastic! Thanks for sharing because seeing fresh snow and a huge living white bark pine is always special.

Great writeup in Forbes here. With the complete shitshow happening here in Washington and after reading this, myself and a few hundred thousand Puget Sound Gravity Research bros may head east for a vacation! Why Montana Is The Hottest Ski And Outdoor Vacation Spot This Winter (forbes.com)

Big Sky was a ghost town this week. Hundreds of canceled reservations due to flights being fucked up by omicron. The article writer says they might set a "record" this year, but so far I'd say they have to be way below average on skier visits. I hardly know anybody in Helena who will even consider skiing there anymore with the tram upcharge. Ninety percent said fuck it.

Hey Cliffhucker! Those are some great conditions.

Also, if anybody’s looking for some good pow skiing… it’s still happening in the southern Madison range.

Found a couple avalanches from last week too.

A couple of resort of employees hae confirmed that visits are "way down" during Xmas week. One who has access to future bookings told me this spring should be very quiet. I'm sure the low tide conditions at Big Sky have people looking at other options.

I hope everybody comes to Southwest Montana right now. The guts will get ripped out of their skis and then they'll never come back.

Crews looking for missing skier at Lost Trail since Thursday

    https://www.montanarightnow.com/miss...maging%20drone.

only skied there once on a sat and went out to sacjac trees area alone and there wasn't anyone around and felt a bit spooked but otherwise didn't think that there were that many sketchy spots. Hope for the best but 24 hours is a long time.

Really sad update. I was hoping the young man was holding court at a bar in Hamilton with some new friends. Vibes to the family and the search teams.

RE: Lost Trail, there is a lotta tempting terrain leading to a lotta nothing off the backside going towards Idaho.

2012 Montana Conditions, Stoke and Whatev Thread

How do y’all, I’m swooping through tomorrow, meeting a buddy and catching a day of touring. Sounds like maybe we’re looking for corn? I don’t know the area, any good ideas for a place to go?
