Cross post from the Indy Pass thread.

Blacktail Mountain (south of Kalispell) just announced they've been added to the Indy Pass. They were recently bought by the Mission Ridge owners.

Good news for western Montana and inland NW. My resorts to hit this winter are Lost Trail, Blacktail, Silver Mtn, 49 Degrees North (all within 3hrs or so from Missoula). Brundage and Tamarack will be a week trip combo in Feb (6hrs), Red Lodge is a spring possibility, Mission Ridge to meet some Seattle friends.

Look up the Gordon Reese cabin. 8 min flat ski into a huge new house. Free for one night. Could drag a sled w 100 lbs of creature comforts. I was impressed
It's brand new. The Nordic trails are free and kick ass.

Those trails at Chief Joseph are my favorite Nordic trails in Montana. Thanks for the tip on the cabin.

It's not brand new (hell, it's 20 years old now) but it is pretty nice. Only potential downside is that it is the warming hut for day users so you only get it to yourself while it's dark. Last time I stayed there I still had a pretty bad hangover when day users started showing up.

Also, be aware that LT has a new "no uphill" policy in place, or at least there is supposed to be no uphill travel that then involves skiing down ungroomed terrain within the ski area boundaries.

We have a Hawkeye bar and a Griz bar. Snow never really starts till March. Time it right, you can leave M play 18 holes in anaconda, and be here by dinner. (My reverse trip in mud season to visit buddies in Lolo/Spoke)

Yes. I stayed there for the first time ~15 years ago. If you want the complete oral history of the G***** R**** cabin I'll connect you with my father in law who was president of the Bitterroot Backcountry Ski Club for a long time. Some might say too long.

Yeah, was my thought when it was posted. Don't worry about me crowding you out, I'd still prefer to just stay in my truck camper and not be annoyed by day users. We used to use those sorts of cabins in Alaska when we lived there, and the day drinking/sledder crowd was always a bit much.

The snow that fell overnight at BS was fairly light and helped the mountain look more like winter. Denser snow may have helped get a few more trails open, but it was fun to ski, BS is making snow again and it looks like Elk Park Ridge may open soon to help spread out the multitude. Without more natural snow Christmas week at BS should be "interesting."

Yah it was fun to feel something soft underfoot today. I'm thinking tomorrow some more terrain will open.
