I’d like to hear the Devils Slide story too.

My wife found this picture of me in Lost Trail Instagram. They must have a less handsome version of our BobbyBill!

Probably about as filled in as she gets. Also probably melted out now. Would be a shame if someone had hypothetically skied the lookers left gully last Friday. Hypothetically.

Nice!! I spend lots of time fantasizing about low elevation lines but never execute. I always thought it would be cool to scramble up along the prominent rock spine the whole way up Devils Slide but I know I no longer have the stomach for that. Storm Castle seems like it would be a sick south facing descent. Anyone ever ski that?

That would be a cool scramble. The grey/brown rock isn’t as chossy as one might expect. One cool thing is the red pigment of the Devils Slide proper seems to stain the snow red.

Anyway, still curious about any history there. Otherwise, back to lurking!

I think I've seen tracks on it a couple times over my 20 years in the area. I think it gets skied whenever there's enough snow. Solid work, something I've also daydreamed about

This is very cool, thanks for posting about your hypothetical experience.

Speaking of the cult, they seem to keep a very low profile these days. We soaked at their hot springs this summer. It's a fine place and we enjoyed it. The only evidence of the cult was in the gift shop, where they had several books by Elizabeth Clare Prophet for sale. That's it.

Quite fine skiing at the Big today. Skied some nice blown in pow on Rips with swimmy's friends who recognized me in the tram line. Janky phone pic of his friend is all we get when swimmy's not there.

Has it been softening up at all in this warmth and sun? I've gotten myself into full jaded spoiled mode and either want to ski soft spring conditions or 12" of new lol.

Did not get too sun baked yesterday, but that's likely to change today. Really nice windbuff this morning on Marx and Lenin. Fun fast laps.

I'm skiing today(Sat) - Thursday. Would love to make some laps. Will be out there tomorrow sans kids who are in lessons Sat-Sun. Probably harder to link up after that. Bright green pants, blue jacket and blue helmet, old neon green and orange scott poles, likely have on the Dakine vest with avy gear in case I get together with one of y'all and get a chance to get in the Big or N Summit Snowfield. I'm on a flip phone so call don't pm me if you want to make a lap - 256-572-6077.

    Cheers,
    Cade

The Plake does not discriminate between good snow and bad snow… all shall be skied beneath his holy feet.

Have a friend in town from ME who has been running me ragged skiing. We took yesterday off and drove the Paradise valley, hit Yellowstone Hot Springs and on to the park and the Lamar valley and ticked off 8 wolves from the Molly pack, a bazillion Bison, a huge bull elk and assorted other wildlife. She was extremely psyched. Beautiful calm warm sunny day. Probably 50-75 protesters at the Roosevelt arch, I bought a NPS gold pass just out of spite.

And oddly enough she regaled me of tales of 2018/19 when Plake showed up at her tiny ski area on the coast (Camden Snowbowl). Said it one of the high points of the season and his stoke level was pegged at 11. Said he was like the pied piper with a group of groms following him even though they were too young to remember who he was/is.

I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

How's the ridge? I know "Don't know till you go...." I'm guessing it's very firm today. Hoping a few inches overnight may be enough to heal it.

Help!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone skiing the really Big today? I have a friend in town from ME, she is a solid skier on an IKON pass. I am under the weather and it is her 65th B-day. Be awesome to hook her up with somebody to ski with. No tram or HW but other than that she is up for most anything (get your minds out of the gutter)

Keep an eye out for Donny Pelletier, Maine's finest athlete. I hear he's skiing Big Sky today.
