Good step in the right direction.

Just buy 30 foot tall inflatable garbage from home Depot then let it sit year round deflated in your lawn like refuse. Would be sweet.

I somehow misplaced my harness/belay device so I went to REI Saturday night and grabbed a new one. The bro worker was like “sick dude, doing some climbing!?” “No, just hanging some Xmas lights.”

Took a break from exterior illumination and met up with Og for a hike. Besides a few nordic laps around the neighborhood, this was day 1 for me.

Holy shit, the snow was fantastic. Powder skiing in November…hell yeah.

Bridger Bowl..... so not terrible high but also not real rocky. Word is that almost any given day the parking lot is at least 1/2 full.

Well, I’ll be skiing the White Ribbon there Sunday for a bit with my kid to support the local economy and eat some fries.

2012 Montana Conditions, Stoke and Whatev Thread

Hey guys we’re likely headed to Big Sky over the holidays and am looking for some insight into expectations that time of year as far as coverage and what might be open. I haven’t been your way in 15 years but that season the tram was running and I was able to get into the big coulior and ski that upper snowfields (I think that’s what it’s called?)into Moonlight basin, right after new years. We’re coming in over Xmas this year, Tahoe based fam of four. Can we expect the tram to be running and the more exciting lines open? Realize it depends what happens between now and then, just trying to get a gauge since I’m pretty unplugged from your scene. We’re typically visiting other fam in Jackson this time of year but with the kids old enough to shred the whole mtn we’re stoked on getting into new places and exploring. Would A-Z and Headwaters possibly be open then? Seems like a decent start for you guys,we’ll have 3 days and hoping to get after a bit if it’s there. Thanks for any beta you can offer, stoked to get back to Big Sky after a long hiatus. Will also plan for a day at Bridger Bowl as well before heading down to Jackson.

Shaping up to be a good La Niña! Will defer comments to resident Big Sky nerds like Nest and Zero G and Whiteroom Guardian

    If I had to guess:

Tram will be running. Not sure about North Summit but S Face will be skiing along with the Big.

    Headwaters should be good.

    A-Z doubtful.

This was Xmas week two years ago. Big Sky was firing.

Was down at Big Sky yesterday to; drop off a pair of skis to be mounted, pay for my locker (thanks Scott) and possibly upgrade my pass.

The snow making system has really come a long way, race training in progress on the front side of Andesite, Elk Park snow making is nearly done (which was unheard of in the past). There is a good base of 24+ inches on the upper mountain which is great for this time of year.

We have about a month for things to fill in. Fingers crossed and keep La Nina firing.

And skiing? It is supposed to be fun.

Looks like Disco is opening for Saturday. Haven't said what will be open yet, guessing not much but sliding on snow is fun.

Speaking of Disco, I took the skis & pup for a walk up there yesterday. Thin in the direct south facing & sunny spots, but good elsewhere. Need only one more good storm and their base is set.
