The entire industry needs a purge. Been saying exactly that for a while now: barrier for entry is far too low. When I took my exam for my license I was like, "Really? That's it?"
It's too easy. I treat my business like a profession and am constantly learning and trying to improve. If the state sent out and email tomorrow to all agents saying we needed to do another 20+ hours of CE and take a new harder/longer exam to stay licensed that would be great. A lot of part time hobbiest agents would bail and that's what we need.

@WRG, Spoke with Ann this am and made a couple more phone calls. Hang in there and we will find your ass more work than you can handle.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

I'm in a similar situation as TFW, except it's my wife that wants to move to the beach. I'd be happy to never leave the RFV, for the rest of my life.
We're going to rent, until she finds her special place, maybe even after.

Tell her you're going out for a pack of smokes

Every time I venture into the mtns west of town, it is just a different feel than the wilderness areas I tend to explore.
Is "industrial serenity" a thing?

Definitely the worst day of the summer, which overall hasn't been too bad. Pouring in from Idaho mostly. Looks like the wind might switch tomorrow.

Yeah but we get this for free. A Pack of Marlboro Reds is almost 8 bucks. We are so fortunate.

Missoula was terrible this morning. AQI over 200 at the airport, and you could barely make out the mountains. The wind started near 2pm and we can now see clear skies. AQI now closer to 100.

228 AQI in Big Sky at one point this afternoon. Literally could see the smoke wafting by in clouds in the street as if there was a forest fire 1/2 mile away.

Not ideal deck staining weather, but happy to have it! Pretty gnarly wind the other night. My girlfriend literally ran away from a huge cottonwood as it fell onto this lady's car, tore down the electrical wires, and started a fire. I was just exiting the canyon when this all went down. Belgrade fire was stuck because of the tree blocking the road so they waited for Manhattan fire to get there from the west. My GF helplessly watched the fire burn the ditch less than 100 feet from the house. She was about to go to battle and when I got home (after off-roading to get around the road closure) she had all the hoses hooked together.....she didn't however realize our wells don't work without power. 15 hours with no power. Good times!

Back up north with the Mrs. Today I hiked the busiest trail I've ever been on. I bet we passed 500 hikers.
But it was also one of the most spectacular hikes I've even been on.

What a spot. I'll definitely be back next July when all of the wildflowers are in bloom.

Sounds like Angels Landing in Zion, or Half Dome Cables route. Crowded, but still amazing.

Sweet.
We did the Highline to Many Glacier (via swiftcurrent pass) through hike a few years ago with an overnight stop at the Granite Park Chalet. Awesome time. The view coming down from the pass into Many Glacier is spectacular. Not well publicized, but there *is* a park shuttle that can take you from Many Glacier to St Mary for like $10 so you can avoid shuttling a car.
I keep watching for cancellations at the Sperry Chalet so I can do something similar with Gunsight pass.
