Fuck this heat. Guessing most of this snow will be gone in a couple weekends. View from Table summit a few days ago. Hilgards but can't figure out exactly what peaks I'm looking at.

Are you sure that this isn’t a repurposed snowfall map showing the classic donut hole? Even has New England properly represented.

Your pic is looking right over the top of No Man Lake, at the portion of the range between No Man Peak and Sawtooth Ridge.

At center is an unnamed summit, elevation 10850 ft, at the culmination of the ridgeline containing Point 10275. Right of center is point 10742, and just out of frame to the right is No Man Pk.

Best money I ever spent was putting in AC about ten years ago. Words cannot express how much it lowers the stress level not having to open the windows on those hot, windy, smoky days. Especially living in the WUI.

Might be too late, but if you need a place to camp, you're welcome to park in our driveway. We're not home, so you'd have the driveway to yourself and you could get into a bathroom. Biking distance (3 miles or so) to the venue / bus to venue.

I'm pretty pumped that my new place is coming with a heat pump!

Current place is pretty well insulated and by cooling it off overnight with windows open and then closing everything down (and keeping window AC in the master bedroom running), it only comes up to about 75 by the evening on days with temps in the 90s. Of course that goes out the window when there's a bunch of wildfire smoke...which is what made us break down and buy the window AC last summer.

If your windows support it, those U-shaped Midea ACs (costco sells some of them) are the nicest window units I've ever owned. Inverter units are so much quieter and they don't clunk on in the middle of the night. U-shape means it doesn't block out as much of your view and you can still open/close the window. I made an L-shaped screen to go around it so I can still keep the bugs out.

I would have loved to put in a heat pump as a dual fuel set up along with as many PV panels I could fit on our roof, but we just couldn't make it pencil out with our anticipated 5 year GTFO plan.

Thanks! My GF's sister and her BF apparently have some super double secret camp spot figured out that they have used for this weekend the last few years. If for some reason we can't camp there I'll let you know. Biggest issue is the temps and our dogs and this may be what keeps us from heading up from BZN.

Tips on tube float stretches on the Blackfoot? Headed up to the fish for Billy tomorrow, then looking for water on the way back to Ennis Monday bc fuck this heat. Tubes or swimming, no boat, was probably gonna go back through helmville but could do Missoula. Haven’t done much water things up that way and it’s been years. Thanks homies.

If you're headed Helmville way Aunt Molly to Cedar Meadow is a nice lazy 6 mile upper river float.

The Big Mountain Ranch venue has some shit figured out. Great stages, mix of wooded viewing areas and open field, great views, good vendors, plenty of free water stations, etc. It was fucking hot that's for sure so we only went in in the evenings on Sat and Sunday. City and Colour was great. Mt. Joy was also good. We really were only there for Billy and of course he crushed it. I caught a few minutes of Paul Cauthen as I was walking out early (got some insane bug from something and had a high fever etc.....thought I was gonna die lol) and his band sounded really fucking good. If I could get tickets I would 100% go see him at Old Saloon.

But yeah, we gotta get some big as ranch down here do to something like Big Mountain Ranch. And not in fucking 3 forks or Whitehall just barren landscape.

^^^ Agree on Main Street, especially during the summer. Good eye candy though.

OTOH the trailheads are great, pulled into one today for a bike ride and ran into 2 other retired avalanche guys and one who is still in the game, did a little catching up and then a ride with one of them who's son will be at MSU this year. Small world.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.
