So, someone point me in the right direction for BLM/State Land/USFS camping not crazy far from Absarokee? Camping down north of the pass will probably be quite busy with the pass opening and skier? Over towards Black Butte/Nye/Rosebud? Just looking for a mellow, dry, quite place for me and my GF and the dogs after a BBQ are attending over that way. Lower elevation and less miles up 2 track the better since we are camping out of the GFC.

About 11 miles from Roscoe on the road to East Rosebud Lake. Was hit pretty hard during the flood a couple years ago. Not sure how much damage still there.


East Rosebud Campground. Up close to the lake. More civilization but much of the property around the lake is private.

Not sure. I believe Targhee and possibly Alta. Some more in tune than my self can confirm or deny the story that more of those passholders skied BB than vice versa. That said, BB was considering expanding their participation in the multi-pass world.

Might be something to do with the fact that the partner days didn't seem to be advertised very much? Myself and others I know who had passes didn't even know about the partner deals. I found out at the ticket window at Targhee only because the nice ticket gal was like, "You know you get free days if you have a BB pass......we've seen lots of people from SWMT that didn't know...."

Guess you should have read the seasons pass agreement you signed.

Had to go to New Mexico to ride the Biggest Tram in America. Actually it was the largest in the world when it was built in the mid-60s. They say it still has the longest free span between towers of any tram, 1.5 miles. Pretty cool.

Tomorrow, continued...Precipitation will become more widespread
and heavier Monday morning with the upper level low moving
passing through the region. There may be a few embedded
thunderstorms with precipitation on Monday/Tuesday afternoon due
to a little amount of instability present. Precipitation lingers
into Tuesday along another wave passing through the region. Snow
probabilities in the mountains are between 30-50% for exceeding
8" of snow. Considering the bulk of the snow being above pass
level and probabilities for accumulations to reach winter warning
criteria (9 inches) remain on the lower side, I have opted to
transition the Winter Storm Watches for mountain zones into
Winter Weather Advisories. Another change I`ve made to the winter
highlights is to move up the timing to 6pm Sunday to 6pm Tuesday
to account for the earlier start and end times for precipitation.
Greatest QPF amounts look to set up across Central MT, where they
have around a 50% of exceeding 1". Most other lower elevations
across the CWA have at least a 50% of exceeding 0.25". In terms of
possible higher end QPF amounts, the 75th NBM percentile ranges
between 1.25-1.5" across Central MT and 0.35-0.75" across most
other lower elevations.

With the upper level low bringing down colder air, cold overnight
temperatures are forecasted for Monday and Tuesday morning.
Tuesday morning wind chills in the mountains can drop down to the
teens and 20s. Those in the backcountry should prepare for
cold/raw conditions.
