Does that route require a buddy like the big?

Opened for about 1/2 the day last Friday. Exits sounded skinny.

    Group of up to 4?

Besides a quick text, haven't spoken with him since. But I did confirm that was my friend.

Your friend is a BS legend for setting a new high level for apres ski. I am guessing Toasty's CT sister is looking to party a little below that level, but I don't go to Nantucket yacht clubs.

It's permitted in Nantucket, but only if you're a Kennedy.

P.S. How's Montana Jack for apres?

It's okay. Apres music on Fridays. Good TVs if you want to watch a game. Decent bar food for dinner if you're staying on the mountain. Best thing about it from my perspective is they have the Swifty pale ale on tap.

Witness the 18BBI-MT. Lots of maggots participated, no feet were lost.

Nice to have clear weather and a relatively cheap tram price ($40) today.

Bunion, what boots work best for you out of the box with bunions? Mine are a pain in the ass. Dalbello's are close but still a bit too narrow (and I have very narrow feet)

I am a Salomon guy, have been for a long time but I don't have narrow feet. I like them cause the plastic in the new shells is very moldable, I also use Zip-fit liners. When you are in Big Sky next, go in to LMS and if you can, talk to Scott (frmr owner of the shop). He is a good bootfitter and can answer your questions way better than I can.

Pretty decent walk-on trams today. Everything skiing nice and soft. Did a Snowfield lap, first of the season. It was skiing pretty well I thought, got skinny in lower direct but I was proud how my kid pointed 'em through the constriction and then dumped speed. Textbook! Pic of her getting ready to drop into the whale, always one of my favorite places on the mountain. Beautiful day up there.

Is the level of snow on the Ennis side of the range normal for this time of year?

Been driving up that way reasonably often — wondered if it is normally that grassy (at low elevation).

There are some interesting peaks/skiable lines off what appears to be the western side of Big Sky/Lone Peak and a bit further south.

    Thanks!

Ennis/Madison Valley gets incredible wind. Like blow cows over windy. Snowfall is usually followed by strong winds, what doesn't sublimate is there but mainly down in the gullies and coulees.

Yep, and they get skied a few times in a decade. The Sphinx is a very cool mountain.

Yes... windy indeed! I figured there would be more snow on the side of the road in a "normal" year. That makes sense!

Yes... I think I've been eyeing the Sphinx.

"Few times in a decade"? Wow. Looked tempting last spring.

You could go repeat the Erickson/Saari line “The Sphinxter”.

I'll wait for your TR first! ;-)

just eyeing it as it's a nice distraction on a frequent drive. don't know anything about lines off it. I'm not well-versed in Montana ski mountaineering.

Anyone got photos of the Sphinx or others in the area so us non-Montanans can have some eye candy?
