First Edit of Surf & Inshore Fishing 2011

Call it a teaser or a whatever, but after some bad poison ivy and spending 10+ hours in soaked, sand filled waders last Monday, I'm done my saltwater fly fishing season in the northeast. It started in 30 degree weather in the Husdson River in March and ended in 40 degree fog in central New Jersey in December. It's time to get fat and drunk for awhile.

I've got a mountain of footage to go through, but instead of sitting on it until it's all sorted out, I put together an edit this weekend of a sliver of the highlights:




There is some insane footage left and so a longer version is on its way, hopefully in Feb.

In 2012 I would like to finally get some maggots on the tape!

really great stuff. i loved the relaxed feeding of the stripers feeding on bait... looks like they're just swimming through it with their mouths open. reminds me of some west coast scenes on a smaller scale.

What cameras are you using? I am looking into a Drift for similar purposes. Just wondering if you are mixing in a SLR at times too, or is it all GoPro?

In this, everything above water, except the topwater take in the third image, is shot with a panny GH2. The underwater is all with the gopro.

Talk to me about the GH2- not to hijack, but I might be in the market soon. Is the GX1 comparable at all?

I am out of fucking touch in 2 weeks. long ass sea voyage coming with no internets.
