I love Christmas time
Looked for the original thread and the rad new search tool couldn't do it. Anyway, I thought that Advres might put up his annual I hate Christmas thread so I thought I'd put up a "what do you love about Christmas/Christmastime thread".
To start; Christmas story:
You'll shoot your eye out!
I still call it The Jake.

Just turned on the guide on the directv and saw that this gem was on tonight. Screw MNF!
I think I'm going to have to expand this discussion for best Christmas movie quotes as well.
"Do you smell something?"
"Yeah, fried pussycat."
I still call it The Jake.

Hey Griswold...where are you going to put a tree that big?
Bend over and I'll show you.
The little lights aren't twinkling.
I know Art...and thanks for noticing. The Sheriff is near!

Cheesy, I know, but I really dig the Christmas carols. The traditional ones by Sinatra, Crosby, Andy Williams, and others.
Gingerbread houses are fun to make then destroy like you're a giant. Wife and I really enjoy decorating the tree and windows every year.
And, like everyone else, Christmas Vacation is a staple but we also rock Bad Santa a few times during the season too.
The best things in life aren't things.

Not cheesey at all. In fact, when I was looking for the original thread I came across a Christmas music thread. The best stuff is the classics like you mentioned. Oh, and the imcomparable:
Keeping with the quotes theme:
Only one thing in the world could've dragged me away from the soft glow of electric sex gleaming in the windowI still call it The Jake.

Throw in heavily bourbon flavored egg nog, decorating the tree, The Grinch, late night hangin' by the tree in front of the fire with a glass of wine and a few friends, watchin' the kids and the wife open presents, hangin' around Christmas morning playing with whatever cheap radio controlled toy we get as a mindless family gift every year. The smell of evergreen and citrus, and Christmas dinner with the week long leftovers.
First time we haven't had at least one kid in the house during the Christmas pre season."You damn colonials and your herds of tax write off dressage ponies". PNWBrit

Hahaha! I made the mistake of doing all my Christmas shopping for my entire family, and extended family and friends I knew I'd be exchanging with that evening on Christmas eve day... just before I had to drive 5 hours in a blizzard to go be with them. Do not recommend.
Just make it easier this year and get her a Lexus.

I enjoy the holidays in the simplest ways possible and try to tune out 99% of the noise. Its a Wonderful Life is must see here, I never fail to get choked up at the end. We like to put cloves and allspice in a potpourri pot to get the house smelling good, bake up some goodies, low lites and candles. Every few years we'll go see The Nutcracker or catch a midnite Mass downtown for some chanting stoke and frankincense. I'm a spiritual camel, so this only happens every 3-4 years.
Silent....but shredly.

I love seeing the look on my children's faces when we turn a corner in a store/mall and....THERE HE IS....SANTA (or HoHO...or Tanta...however they each said it before they could speak clearly). I love the smell of the season and the children's joy when opening gifts and grandma's joy watching the kids.
AND THE BEER
And reading the children books about baby Jesus, Tebow, and fisting.

The claymation Santa Clause is Coming to Town is amazing in high def.
Rudolf the Red-nosed Reindeer is actually puppets, not clay as I remembered it. Again, amazing this time around in HD.
Highly recommended.
