Question. My kid got his skis mounted recently at a local shop. Pivot 14s. He’s saying when he’s skating he’s feeling his heels pull up a little. He’s in SLC and I’m in CO so I can’t personally inspect.
Is he crazy? He doesn’t have his DIN super high but it should be more than high enough to lock the heel down. He blew a ski off on a big launch to a flattish landing yesterday. I saw the video and it certainly could have been a normal release but he seemed pretty quiet and balanced on the landing so I’m not sure.
Anyway, am I crazy or does this sound like not enough forward pressure?

There is a thread on Pivots out there somewhere. It has the answers you seek.
Try putting his boot in a ski on the carpet. Pull up on the boot. If it moves in the bindings it's too loose. Tighten until they don't move.
From what I've gathered, the indicators aren't the most accurate.

The brakes shouldn’t move when the forward pressure is correct IMO

When you lift up the boots they shouldn't move, if the pressure is correct

yes.
Have him tighten the dildo struts until the heel just touches the rear dildo when in the open position, the dildo's surface is parallell to the edge on the heel ledge, and he can do the twist test. Especially the latter is not excact sience, but what feels right given that the other are correctly adjusted. All three posts are from the aforementioned thread on adjusting Pivots.
Theskimonster also have a thread on this that is very useful, but I can't seem to be able to open it anymore.

I have OG Mavens w/o bindings I’d be willing to part with. One of the floatiest skis ever.

Welp, despite measuring numerous times I ended up with my first fuck up while mounting my own fucking skis. Boot center ended up on the line, despite my intention of having it a couple centimeters back. I guess I’ll have to see how I like the center mounted tele ski.

How deep into a ski can a screw go without dimpling the bases? Mounting up a pair of thin DPS’s for my gf and they say to use a small bit and short screws. I’m mounting with pivots though so the heel screws are quite far forward.
Screw protrusion measures 8mm and the ski thickness at the thinnest spot where there would be a screw is 11.5mm. Thoughts?

That's exactly what I loved about them... flat as fuck under foot.
Mine were slightly mis-pressed as well and ended up slightly convex under foot. They were super loose but still could engage the edge if needed.
You're right they are probably a little overkill for taper but for their time I really liked them.Goal: ski in the 2018/19 season

Pulling my old R:EX out of storage for hard pack days ahead. My boots have changed, so I adjust. But, I can't find the forward pressure indicator on these. Who has the knowledge?
Also, will I die with these binders?
