well if you epoxy them in the plugs are harder to get out, so if you can't get the plastic plugs just use the BBQ skewers,

    a whole bag of 100 is < 3 $

Oar hickory golf tees work well and are relatively inexpensive.

Cant wait to get on these. I used the combo of x'r method and Thom's print out template. Crosschecked the template w boot on the toe piece. Altered the printed template holes accordingly , triple checked and bang on. Template holes had a range adjustment marking within the holes so it was ez to alter ever so slightly. I also marked the bsl at the front and back of the ski. My boot is 290mm so 145 from boot center either way and scribed a line. There was a little window cut out in the template for the front and rear of the boot so that helped line the template up on the two scribes. Worked a charm

Wut? Ive tried to buy plugs from shops with cash a few times and each time they look at me like im crazy and dump a bunch into a ziploc bag and just say "keep it".

Regardless, it never hurts to put some glue in before you plug holes... just to help keep water out. But you really can use just about anything to plug holes- BBQ skewers, golf tees, glue+steel wool, sawdust+glue, a broken screw, etc.

First mount with real jig and not paper templates. Damn it's fast. So fast I didn't even realized, that I did it without beer!

PSA for mags in SW Montana. I have mounting jigs for dynafit(some models), look/rossignol, and marker. Happy to assist anyone with a mount.

Yep I was baffled, he was adamant that putting anything in the hole would push the plug out... and that would make me die?

To his credit he said that if I brought them in he would plug the holes for free...

Anyone in PDX want to split a 1000 pack?

Never seen it ^^ with epoxy but i've seen gorilla glue expand & push out dowel pieces that weren't big enough diameter, the pieces were all evenly puked out on the top sheet which was pretty funny

but contrary to urban myth the ski did not explode

I really like the epoxy + BBQ Skewers method.
Cheap, handy, probably close to the original strength etc.
It does take longer than plastic plugs.

If you're in PDX and want some plastic plugs, I've got a bag I've never used.
I'm sure I could spare you a dozen or two.
(Though I'll have to find that bag in my wreck of a garage!)

1000:1 odds this was the Mountain Shop. Those guys have given me the runaround on almost anything actually ski related. Evo will give you the plugs if you ask.

Evo had a screaming deal on Salomon QST Lumen 99s along w/some Marker Squires for my wife- Christmas/birthday present mounted up, 1 degree base bevel and hot wax. It's been a while since I bought my wife some new skis and I'm stoked to be able to mount them and gift them to her this coming winter...

Sweet. That is a vintage SkiVisions Base Flattener you’ve got. Awesome! And Kwik silcone spray, too.

I can't seem to find the post/thread where someone (rfconroy?) shared a centerline finder tool, either available as open source to print or to purchase? I'd appreciate a pointer, thanks.

There are a couple versions of that tool in the bowels of this thread, but I personally use Alpinord's centerline finder. It's awesome for someone like myself who did 40+ paper mounts last season. I only got it in the spring but it makes the process much more accurate and quick.

There is a cheaper fully 3d printed version here as well.
