well of course some people should not be allowed to own tools which flys in the face of this whole thread
but the caveat should probably have been that the average dentist might strip the holes out of a ski with a power tool. A real tech learns pretty quick how much force to use or he spends alot of time fixing what he broke, also mounting a bunch of skis in an 8hr shift by hand would really tear up your hands ... so using a drill makes sense
as for reusing the hole if I was going to possibly reuse holes in a ski I would epoxy in plastic plugs which would seal them from water 100%, then if I wana re-use them I would drill with a small bit and/or pull out with a DW screw, or you can just drill & screw right into them
reusing a hole I would use 24 hr epoxy, definatly don't overtighen and when the epoxy drys it should be good as the original mount
to permanently fill a screw hole I recently discovered that bamboo barbecue skewers are > golf tee's which i always found needed to be sanded down to fit, they are a better size also easier/cheaper to find in the supermarketLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

I did my first dozen mounts using hand tools only.
Then I did 3 mounts in an evening and it fucked my hands up. (Yeah, I gave up climbing a while ago or it'd be a non issue.)
Now I set the clutch and use a power tool wherever possible. Hand tighten the last few bits. It's faster. Shit hurts less. Way easier to apply consistent downward pressure. Mounts ski fine. I am for sure not a pro.
First time you do it set the clutch low. Slowly build up til you find the sweet spot for your particular tool.
P.S. Skied 25 year old bindings today. Some 1993 957s. Didn't rip my legs off.

I use my hammer drill every time. I like living on the edge. I’ve used power tools my entire life though. No spinners. Knock on wood.

Instead of templates or jigs I just use the actual binding and draw it out on masking tape, which is slow if you are doing it for money but ok once a year ... Its really just layout on a piece of wood

Hopefully you didn't use the the same guy who mitered those corners.

No worry. He plans to chink those gaps with sphagnum moss

Nice little video on mounting G3 Zeds from G3. Nothing fancy, but clear demonstration of a good way to ensure proper alignment of tech bindings on mount. Basically -- loosely mount the toe, fully mount the heel, click boot in, then snug up the toe.

Got to the Ramblin’ Jacks yesterday, still waiting on the right size brakes. Joplins are to the left, with radical toes and kruezpiste heels.

Somebody went through my list and took it up a notch on all the chores....
I had to tune all the skis real good too. Probably for the best in the long run
