I've mounted a fair few skis this year, here are the more pow specific skis:
So Nocta, Koala118, PR-OTO, BGs (pre-asym), Lotus117, BO118s, WW116s and Vision118s. All are great skis, though I wish the PR-OTOs were more like 183cm straight pull instead of 186.something, and the swing weight of the BO118s jives kinda poorly with my skiing style (did not ski them a lot).
I also mounted Bonafide97s, M-Pro99s, Atris105s, Ranger102s and Vision108s.
Pivots on all - so no reeal effort as I am lucky enough to have a jig.
Favorite pair? Probably Koala118s. Least favorite? Atris. The skied that surprised me the most? Lotus117.
So yeah, I might have gotten a bit carried away this summer/autumn/winter.

Seeing some *very* slight deformation around some binding screws from a recent mount. Any occasion to be concerned here?

^^^ that's not a typical volcano around your drill hole. Almost looks like the binding was pulled into the top sheet to cause that dimple? Huh... Can't say I've ever seen that before.
I'm sure it will be fine, unless it's indicative of some bigger blem / potential delam?

that looks like a reasonable 1/2 inch center to center from previous holes
but you never know how well it was done ?Lee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

Yeah, my guess is the prior hole wasn’t sealed and the ski got water penetration. He wasn’t trickin’ just skiing some corn and dug a tip.
I asked who mounted and he said the shop up on Schwiz.

well consider that could easily happen on a virgin mount cuz sometime shit just happens thats why some of us follow best practises which would have been to epoxy in some dowel or BBQ skewer and do the remount using slowset epoxy to give the remount area more strength but who knows what/ how ?

True true, I’ve seen a lot of weird shit on Sally QSTs… so maybe it was a ski issue.

PSA: Mount your own fucking skis.
I’ve never had problems with second or third mounts until this season. My girlfriend’s old skis’ wood cores were rotting, so the Dynafit Rotation 7 heels I mounted ripped out.
I’m going to be doing a third mount on a Blizzard ZeroG, and I’m thinking the carbon core should be just fine.I didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.

Soft topsheet. Yeah maybe.
But I blame the impact driver.
No way that happens when hand screwing. Or when using a drill with a clutch. Overtightened

Just mounted and gripped up the pink one!
Here it is side by side with my stock Hovland Bubba 153.
I wanted a very fast, very edge-stable version of my Bubba that I can use for downhill longboarding techniques.
Caveman made me a custom deck, and I looked all over to find a ski that should be compatible for the deck and what I'm trying to do. I settled on a 2013 Salomon Q Lux 151.

Lari, you are crazy. In the best, freshest way. Please report back with how the skinny rides.

Ha! Thanks! I'm excited to try it out.
Yeah, this season, I convinced myself that the limits of skateboarding actually exist on the snow.
So in theory, with a setup like the Caveman Q Lux, an average downhill skater like myself could ride on the snow at the same level as the world champion dudes do it on wheels.
As I've been experimenting, I'm learning that this reasoning applies to park, street, vert, slalom, freeriding, mountain boarding, powsurfing... you can just go so fkn huge on snow skate, all lift serviced all day.
Make all my skateboarding hero fantasies come true!
