    choppy powder skiing and 180's

    2 things,

    - My problem on crud is that when I go to turn especially on steeper, my skis kind of slide too much sideways and I lean up the hill and therefor it is a very bumpy ride smashing into clumps of snow.

-I tried a 180 for the first time this season on a bump sort of thing with a choppy landing and I couldn't ride it out to save my life, I tried about 10 times and I would always fall to the side and on my back, the jump kicks me up for enough air I just can't land the switch, I can do 180's easily on those sort of step up jumps but I got to learn how on the somewhat cruddy landings and a little powder, do I just need to spin harder because I kept falling to the right and I spin left but it feels like i am coming around all the way... maybe not?

Its always been a bumpy ride smashing into crud clumps. Bend your knees. Try skiing moguls properply for that matter. As fas 180s go, look in the direction you want to spin, start spinning before you leave the ground, and stop looking before you over-rotate. You need to spin your head 360 degrees to do a proper 180 or you're not doing it right.

    Hello,

Please remind Grandma that mixing prescription narcotics and LSD into the mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie is ONLY acceptable when the participants have been notified in advance.

    Thank You.

haha at the beginning i thought he was talking about 180 length skis...cause people who attempt 180s usually know how to deal with choppy crud.

I had the same problem when I was swinging for carp with my switch tenkara rod on my standup paddle board.

I find if I bring my pole from 1 o'clock to 3 o'clock sharply, and stop it hard, like releasing a dart, to load the pole properly, I can get 180 WITHOUT hitting little clumps of snow. I chop the little lumps of snow up really fine with the blade on my leatherman and SNORT the clumps up, and then I have no problem coming around.
