Dang, no one told me about this ahead of time! I had to read about afterwards.
Cannabis farmer holds giveaway in protest of 'big pot'

However it does make some interesting points about the commercial aspects of growing weed in NM, and probably other states.

It’s the same issue in every state that legalizes. Officials overestimate demand, grant too many producers licenses, prices tumble, growers lose their ass.

The pattern follows the Gartner Hype Cycle, only with a legal trigger rather than technological.

Last time I was in OR I noticed the retail prices seemed (unsustainably) low. Figured it was for reasons like that.

Yep, green gold rush, and just like the actual gold rushes in the 19th century most end up with less money than they started. No one seems to grasp that black market prices won't continue in a legal market.

Been enlightening to watch as the commercial market here becomes for mature and lots of smaller ops are bought out and consolidated and prices fall.

$ 15.00 an 1/8th including tax seems to be the benchmark.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Pulling for North Dakota, South Dakota and Florida to go rec legal today. If so, over half of the USA will now have legal weed.

Federal legalization would be a groundbreaker.

Crazy Floriduh part, they actually had the majority votes for legalization. But in 2006 legislation was passed saying 60% majority needed to approve any amendments.

North Dakota is not weed friendly. 52.5% voted no.

And South Dakota voters also don’t want the state smelling fantastic. Their loss.

Is America Switching from Booze to Weed?

Like a lot of things apparently the answer depends on which America.
The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there.
