Ha! You guys and your purist attitudes.
I drink my morning coffee black. Peet's is good shit, and the quality comes through in a cup of thick, black, strong-ass coffee. I probably make it too strong, but I don't care, that's how I likes it.
That mocha I get from Uptown sometimes in the afternoon? I like it that way too. Take good coffee made by a barista who knows what she's doing, add foamy whole milk and chocolate - what's not to like? I aint doing it to cover up the bad coffee, I'm doing it 'cause I like a mocha every now and then. Big deal....Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain...

DON'T store coffee in the fridge! Unless it's in an absolutely air-tight container, it will act just like baking soda and absorb both moisture and odors from the other stuff in there. Plus the fridge isn't cold enough to preserve freshness. The freezer is, but if you constantly remove the beans (to make some coffee) and then put them back, you'll have condensation. The enemies of freshness are air and moisture.
For morning cup-o-joe I like Peet's "Major Dickason's Blend". For espresso I go to the local roaster.

1000 faces or uncommon ground in a Clever Coffee is my favorite. Light but full bodied roasts.

No. Do tell, please.
That reminds me when I used to work on the Bering Sea doing some pot surveys for the Ak Dept of Fish & Game (no...not that kind of pot). The hardcore crabbers we used to work with would often not have time to scarf down a cuppa cold joe, so they'd take a handful of beans from the galley and chew on them on their way to the deck. They'd chew on the beans and then put the bits under their tongue.
They swear they got a faster and better caffeine hit that way. I tried it....was some nasty!! But hey, they're hardcore crabbers so what would you expect? Mocha Lattes? When the seas are 22 feet??

I also forgot JJ Bean in Vancouver and Milano does a mean espresso but doesn't do any other roasts. You can't spit without hitting a coffee shop in this town.

Ok - so like, he's up all night studyin' for his grade 8 exam, eh? An so I get up at like 2 o'clock and hoser's down there makin' a coffee sandwich. He takes like two pieces of bread and pours coffee on it, then he takes a big bite, then he pukes! I laughed my head off.

I'm no coffee snob, just give me something without any shit in it and I'm all good. Once you go black, you never go back.
I think you have me confused with someone who is far less awesome.

I use to be like that too. I drank Maxwell house or foldgers for 4 straight years - buying the large containers, which ever one was cheaper. Then I tried grinding some "fancy" coffee beans. Now I can't go back. Not sure if it is the fresh grinding or better beans, but it tastes like what coffee is supposed to taste like.

^It's weird because I am a complete tea snob. But my bro will make coffee and apologize how bad it is and I will drink 3 cups. For some reason I can stand damn near any coffee black, but give me shit tea and I'll refuse to drink it.
I'm sure if I got into good coffee and grinding my own shit I would soon turn into a coffee snob though.I think you have me confused with someone who is far less awesome.

I like coffee with chips and salsa. The heat of the salsa and the heat of the cheap, but somehow amazing, coffee just goes perfectly.
I get made fun of at work for having a mug press. I like it. Oh well.

Just picked this little baby up. It's my first coffee grinder and it's really nice to have one at home. For a long time I avoided buying one because I like going to coffee shops and getting espresso. I finally came to grips with the fact that one week off of lattes pays for the grinder.
What do you guys do with your French press grounds? Garbage disposal? I sort of remember hearing once that grounds are a no no for the garbage disposal, so I just toss them in the trash. Am I wasting my time?
