TR: Japan in 17 photos, 1 vid
Hey TGR
So since i never got around to posting in in the spring, and since I and im sure everyone else is in need of some pow stoke at this time of year, here is a little TR from Japan in february 2011. The GF and i went over for 3 weeks to experience all japan had to offer...not just the pow (all the aussies asked why we'd leave BC to get pow?) but the culture and the experience. Since yall have seen plenty of Japan shots on here I'll try and keep the text short and let the photos and video do the talking.
So first off, this is a little vid i edited. The intro is pretty long but i think it turned out decent for not actually filming very much stuff. Hard to stop and get shots when its dumping.
Anyway now the photos:
It snowed a little bit
70cm overnight and bluebird, not so bad
the views were ok too
So we went and checked out the snow monkeys…
and finally some other random shots
Enjoy!

Spectacular. Pity your non-pov footage came out kind of low res. Was it the lighting or camera or the editing?
I demoed the TECH TALK JONG! pro model this spring and their performance was unparalleled which is good because I ski in a wedge most of the time - bendtheski, 2011

The camera. The non-POV stuff was with a point and shoot cam that doesnt do well in bright light and other various conditions

Nice photos and video. I'm doing a trip there this winter.
How much did you spend in 3 weeks? If you kept track. And were you in Niseko or parts elsewhere?
Thanks

Hey coyote
Not sure of exact figures, but overall things were similar in price or cheaper than north america. Food was a little more but then again, you dont have to tip. Booze was cheaper unless you were at a bar or restaurant. And mainly lift tix were much cheaper. We mainly skiied Hakuba area (honshu) as well as Nozawa Onsen. Lift tickets were between 40 and 60 bucks, which really cuts down on the costs.

thank you very much for the Japan stoke.
I am planning to hit up Japan this winter. Question: Where were those snow monkeys? Kinda looks like a zoo or something. Pretty sure I need to see a Japanese snow monkey.
edit: I searched wiki for japanese snow monkey. Were you at Jigokudani?Last edited by tripice351; 10-14-2011 at 11:01 PM.

Thanks for the great shots and vid. I am skiing Japan this winter. I hope you have the shot of yourself jumping through the trees framed and on your wall.

Yeah you got it, Jigokudani. Definately recommended. It used to be a hot springs for people, and then the monkeys that lived in the area figured out it was a pretty sweet place to hang out. So now its a "monkey park". The cool thing is theres no fences or anything to keep the monkeys there. And they are pretty chill, just hang out amongst all the tourists.
