What material will prevent cuff ripping on pant leg?

Looking to stitch on some material to my snowpant on the inside cuffs - you know the area the always seems to get cut up by ski edges...

I have some older Helly Hansen pants which are still perfectly good, except for the holes in the cuff. On any given day a ton of snow finds its way inside these holes and gets really annoying.

What material should I put over these holes? I think I want to do one big patch, i.e. similar to the patches many newer snowpants have on the inside cuff to prevent these cuts.

Keprotec is Schoeller's woven kevlar/aramide fabric that's super tough, light (and expensive) but it's hard to find in regular fabric stores.

The only place that comes up for Keprotec in small quantities is here: http://www.shelby.fi/catalog/default...Path=22_29_161 (is the .fi extension Finland?) and it's 88 euros/meter (I assume a Euro roll isn't our standard 60" wide, probably 1.5 meters). Not really cost effective to fix one pair of pants. Seattle Fabrics, which is a really good outdoor fabric store, doesn't have it AFAIK. The only time I was able to get some was through a friend who worked for Helly Hansen, and I used it all.

Rumor has it that if you you buy pants that fit properly, the chances of cutting your pants with ski edges is reduced considerably.

Go get some 1000 denier Cordura, find a sewing / mending shop, and ask them to do multiple stitches around the perimeter as well as crosshatch the middle a couple times. That way even if it slices through it will not allow snow to fill the whole cuff.

yeah, seriously. It's not your stance. Boot buckles and ski edges just destroy them. I'm sure they could make pants that could withstand it, but it wouldn't be "fashionable". I try to spend as little as possible on ski pants and just get a new pair every few years.

stance and pants that fit HELP IMMENSLY, however, buy some pants with some burly material there.... TREW uses "super fabric" which works pretty well.... (it took me 100+ days to walk through it).

If boot buckles are fucking up your inside cuff, then your stance is wicked fucked.

Superfabric does the best job I have seen in terms of holding up to inside edge abuse. Trew is using it on their bib and pant cuffs.

A single layer of duct tape slathered in seam seal on both sides is a super burly patch, this combination has outlasted a few pairs of pants that it was attached to.

Only downside is it is sort of stiff, not an issue on cuffs but could be sort of annoying somewhere that requires more articulation.

I have my Vietnamese seamstress sew Cordura patches on my inner cuffs then I have her give me happy ending.

Seriously though I do sew cordura on my Helly pants and the patches last about 2 years. Then I remove the cut and torn patches and sew on new ones. So far, so good and my pants are going on 9 seasons now. No more snow balls filling the cuffs and melting in the car and getting everything around them soaking wet. And yes my seamstress is Vietnamese but she's wicked ugly so I've never asked for a Happy Ending....

    good to know.
and you don't have to kiss her.
And my stance is a little wide. My pants aren't too baggy. I'm 6' with a 34" inseam and I wear a medium.
My pants get cut the fuck up after a good season or 2.
