San Francisco: One for the Road Nov 2 and ANNUAL TAILGATE
WHAT
Well, snow has fallen and we haven't had an excuse to gather the SF mags for a little while. TGR's One for the Road showing at the Palace of Fine arts is coming soon ... and that means ANNUAL TAILGATE!
For the newcomers, basically swing by the lot before the film and have a brew with your soon-to-be skiing buddies. This is now a standing tradition at the SF show. Bring some grub and drink for yourself, and/or to share. We had plenty to go around last year! I'm not promising coals or a grill, so someone is going to have to step it up like enginerd did last year!!!
WHEN
Wednesday November 2nd.
-Tailgate starts at 7:30 PM
-Late show starts at 9:30 PM - we usually start heading into the expo shortly after 9
WHERE
Meet at the top of the Triangle for the Tailgate

I'm sure we can ask 666 to check it out when he is out on a run. Unless the marathon destroys him tomorrow and he never wants to run again. :P

I'll bring good beer this time. No more coors heavy. Let me know if I need to bring anything besides high fives.

I can ride my bike or hike out there and gather some beta for y'all this week (i.e. find out if the parking lot is closed, etc.). Just from my general knowledge of the area, it's all residential around the Palace and a lot of that parking gets spoke for by the residents. Not sure what the policy is regarding "tailgating" under the rotunda. There's lots of space in the Presidio, but again, not sure what the policy is for "tailgating" there after sunset. Ditto for Crissy Fields (there are a ton of parking lots down that way). Y'all might need to find a maggot (or friend of a maggot) who lives in the Marina and has a sweet deck/roof top...

Y'all owe me a round of beers...
Rode out to PoFA this afternoon to scope it out for y'all.
Good News:
The back parking lot where we have tailgated previously is still there.
Bad News:
It has been truncated into about 45 parking spots (about 1/4 of what it used to be) and it is now a one way loop. Still, there's plenty of room back there if somebody were to get there early and stake out some prime real estate.
Other Kind of Okay Options:
Over by the Rotunda there are 10 parking spaces, but it's right in front of the Exploratorium entrance.
Across Mason is Lundeen Road, which takes you into the Marina. There are a grip of parking spots lining the outer edge of the park. No signs designating it an alcohol free zone, either.
Chrissy Fields East Beach has a ton of parking. Again no signs saying anything about picnicing/tailgating/boozing.
These last two options require a longer walk to the venue (probably the equivalent of 2 city blocks give or take).
I didn't bother scoping out anything across Lombard in the Presidio as I think they are a bit stricter about after work hours parking and whatnot.

Dooks, many thanks. I think we can try to take over part of the triangle. We might not be able to all park together like years past, but all we need are about 3 or 4 spaces for coolers/food/congregation. It's just easier because it's what we've done in the past and not some other random hard to find place (for people not from the area etc)
I've got a bottle of RR Damnation 23 (69th batch) I'll bring to share at the tailgate, and you can have first sip, how's that?_______________________________________________

Dookey are you feeling all right? That was the most slang free post I have ever seen out of you.
I say we just try to take over whats left of the triangle. There were definitely not 45 cars last year.

It's ski porn season! I should be returning with a grill (thanks to Warr. again) and beer. TRIANGLE IT IS! We'll try to show up around 8 or so. That should give us all enough time to tell tall tales of spring skiing and summer climbing...

Thanks 'nerd for reminding me of this. I can toss a Weber in the back of my Subie again this year. BYO Meat. As long as we get there early, shouldn't be a problem staking out a spot.
I support Coors Heavy.
