Yes, you can tour thru SSF. More restrictions than usual this season due to COVID. Check the website.
    https://skisantafe.com/uphill-policy/

Ski Santa Fe permits uphill traffic with updated restrictions for the 2020/2021 season.

The Covid Safe Practices for Ski Areas require us to track each user within our permit area and to limit the total capacity. Because of capacity limitations we will have restrictions on uphill use Weekends and Holiday Blackout Dates (12/26-12/31, 1/16-1/17, 2/13-2/14).

Uphillers are required to wear a face covering while traveling up and down the mountain.
No Lift Ticket or activated One Pass/Peak Plus required Monday-Friday excluding Blackout Dates and Holidays (12/26-12/31, 1/16-1/17, 2/13-2/14).
Saturday, Sunday, and Blackout Dates a valid Lift Ticket or activated One Pass/Peak Plus Card are required for all uphill access from 8AM-5PM.
Saturday and Sunday uphill access is permitted without Lift Ticket or activated One Pass/Peak Plus Card after 5:00 pm and before 7:30 am, users must be back in the parking lot by 8AM.
Please know and follow, including preseason, all the Uphill Access Guidelines.

Nothing to ski here. All the cool kids know Taos is the only place to ski in New Mexico.

Lots of uphill traffic at Santa Fe today. Many are cute ladies. They can get to the stuff that is still not served by lifts.

    TAOS New Mexico....BETA.....?

Gauging interest in a mini summit:

I will pick up no stray dogs or allow design meetings to run long.

Thursday January 28th and Friday January 29th. Taos Ski Valley, NM.

NM COVID guidelines are to bring your own pipe. I will have the hyper-local organics available to fill you up.

I’m a solid “may be”. And I vote for Thursday- cheep day tickets Mon-Thu.

The other ski forum was also planning a gathering that same week but that was before the plague.

Yeah, I’ve got a midweek pass, so mon-thu are best for me. Fewer Texans as well.

Dates of summit are now Wednesday, Jan. 27 and Thursday, Jan. 28

Apres hosted at the house we’re building along the return trail. Should have the ping pong table set up by then.

Will the ping pong table support the weight of a stripper and her pole?
    Daniel Ortega eats here.

Depending on conditions, I could possibly be interested.

Are there takeout restaurants, up in the valley? Last minute VRBO’s?
Ikon Base is direct to lift w/o a res?

Ikon assure you, there WILL be rocks to hit regardless of conditions.

I believe take out is available at corporate 192, Rhodas, Bavarian.

Not sure on VRBO. Be sure to confirm the COVID pledge of allegiance before you come. Quarantine for 2 weeks, ski a couple days, go home, quarantine for another 2 weeks.

This thread was stuck in 2020. Unacceptable!

Also, there may be some snow this weekend.

Still lots of rocks in West Basin but one might use the term “all time” for today.

^ being a former Le Sk Mastery employee and current shop ambassador, I love hearing this story every time. Sounds like such a fun race. How fun it would be to bring that back.

Stopped in the shop tonight to get some to get edges cleaned up. Reminded me of the tight knitted community we have here. Hardcore skiers that have devoted their whole lives the sport and the community surrounding it.

Skiing is the glue and the rest is just life.

I'll never forget the first time I saw him ski down Al's on a powder day. He is next level crazy Frenchman!

Do they do the April fools tele bump race on Al's anymore? I raced in that once. It was a single elimination style and you had to hike back up for every run. It was a good party.

    TAOS New Mexico....BETA.....?

In the early Powder Mag days we did a last minute AK trip with a bunch of Aspenites and a couple of mags, Karl Stall, Skideeppow, Phatty, Meatdrink and Natty.
I missed my connection in SLC and missed the first day. Got into ANC at 2am, jumped into a rental for the solo drive to ARL.
Arrived just as the groups were marshaling together and lifting off.
I was jonesing hard as Theo told me the groups were set and I’d be going out on the last ship, with an instructor from Taos and his client.
“Don’t worry, you’ll have fun”, didn’t really reassure me much.

I was totally pissed and I wanted to hate Alain, , he was good looking, an instructor and fucking French. But he was such a nice guy, I just couldn’t.

After a couple of runs to get our legs. Theo let Alain and me Mach some faces, lapping the other groups, while he brought down the client.

I ended up having my best Heli day ever.

That's pretty classic! So the client paid for Alain and got Theo!

He actually paid for both and Alain’s wife.
But he was president of De Beers, so I don’t think he cared.

Just dropping in to see if the flying_v was around. We'd sure like to ski ya this winter in Jackson.

Then I read back and saw all the Theo Meiners chatter. I was so fortunate to get pulled under his wing a little early on in my ski bum career. He was rough on most of the new kids.
