Just asked Ben about the leg loop. There is one. The leg loop is shown on the pack info page picture tucked into the lumbar pad.Last edited by Alexander1310; 10-05-2011 at 03:45 PM. Reason: Updated info

@Alexander, The Blackjack does have a leg loop, however our recent website photos showed it tucked under the lumbar pad. I will update that to show leg loop.

Bnoble,
Can you fill us in how the refill system works. Lets say I want to fly to Utah, AK, Cali etc. and have to empty the cartridge to get on the plane, What would I do when I get to my destination to refill it? Also how would I refill it in my home state? Thanks in advance!

Hi all,
Re-filling it super easy. Once we finish our brochure I will post it here, but in the meantime...
The quick and dirty is : once the canister is empty, simple remove the hoses, unscrew the activator to replace the O-ring that keeps pressure in the tank. Once put back together, simply take the canister to a Fire Department, Scuba Shop, Paintball place, or even ship it back to us for a free re-fill. We will also be selling spare canisters later in the year. Last season I was stoked to have a couple when skiing in Cooke for a while and didn't have anyplace to re-fill. Here's a quick description of the canister and activator...

Bnobel,
Thanks for the info. Name added below.
From my research the things that I like about this pack is it will carry weight better than others on the market, lighter than the BCA float 30 and has considerably more room, can be refilled locally, Dana packs are proven and tough as shit, the bag can be switched completly to non air bag mode (purchase different lid) for times when you dont need it or when you want to use it for non skiing adventures (one pack for everthing), Made n the USA. The sizing is customizeable in frame length, and waist belt size. Lets get some more names on this list boys!!!!

bnobel,
Rather not fly with the Blackjack. I am sure i would need to bring it underneath and then it is up to the local TSA discretion to let it go. Mohamed Atta flew out of Portland, ME and Boston which are the two airports I use, so I could see if they were a bit more cautious. Bringing it on a plane is expensive as it would be the second item shipped. First is skis.
I would much prefer to ship the pack by conventional means than bring it on the plane. I know you need to have a special permit to ship the filled tanks. Is that true to ship the unfilled tank and the valves too? Any insight on the consumer side for shipping these packs.
Thanks
CIJ

To the top! C'mon people, safety first. What's a new pair of skis if you get dead? /ridiculous argument.

@Cat in January,
Yeah flying with compressed air (or any sealed tank/canister) is a tricky conversation, considering when its all said and done TSA makes the final call. Bozeman, for example, is pretty chill. Portland sounds a bit more conservative. Its pretty safe to say that TSA will allow you to fly with an empty canister. As is it safe to say that shipping via UPS/FEDEX/USPS, an empty canister should be no problem. Again this is kind of up to you in the long run... We (Mystery Ranch) have Haz-Mat certification, so we can ship full canisters...
