    NOAA = GFS

    Euro = ECMWF

    The more reliable forecasts are ensemble analyses using both GFS and ECMWF

    If you are talking about this NWS discussion and similar NWS analyses, then, yeah, I agree.

    PNW camper n00b here. Advice needed!

    Where can you park a camper at Snoqualmie Pass? I know there is an RV lot at Alpental, how does that work? Is there anything near Central or somewhere else in the area? Free would be best but I would prefer paying to getting hassled.
    that's all i can think of, but i'm sure there's something else...

    would crashing around the gold creek/hyak area work, ie: does the security only patrol lots that the ski area uses?

    Are you saying this year there is RV overnight at Central, but they charge for it?

    EDIT: Nevermind, I should have read the link first. Yes, that is what you are saying.

    Didn't make it out the Nash gate this morning, but the edelweiss bowl skied like spring time.

    SeatownSlackey, the motherships are awesome. Thanks for the hookup.

    either the trees got closer together or there are just more of them sticking out, but damn there are alot of trees to dodge lower down in valley. most of the open areas were hammered as expected, but the top was smooth and bouncy for first 500 vert.

    I just had to wipe a tear, of joy, from my eye...

    MODELS AGREE
    ON THE BREAKDOWN OF THE UPPER RIDGE IN THE SHORT TERM ...BUT DETAILS
    IN FORECAST SOLUTIONS QUICKLY DIVERGE TOWARD THE END OF THE WEEKEND
    AS THE NORTHERN BRANCH OF THE JET STREAM SAGS SOUTH. THIS ADJUSTMENT
    IN THE JET ALLOWS A LOWER AMPLITUDE PATTERN TO DOMINATE THE WEATHER
    AND USHERS IN WEATHER MORE TYPICAL OF THE NORTHWEST FOR DECEMBER.
    LOOK FOR ANOTHER STORM SYSTEM TO AFFECT THE AREA MIDWEEK...FOLLOWED
    BY SOMETHING BY THE END OF THE WEEK.

    I see people camping in the overflow lot across the street from the Silverfir lift from time to time.
    Not sure what the policy is on that however if there's a question, the security guy is constantly circulation and can point you in the right direction.
    Gold Creek is a cluster IMO. First, many of the cars parked there are people who own places up Ski Tour Valley.
    Also, you are basically parking on the street, at a designated snow park and AFAIK, the Forest Service/county doesn't want you there overnight.

    I'm guessing these were weekend days?
    If conditions are good you have to show up Friday, earlier in the afternoon.
    I've seen some come up at lunch, only to drop of their trailer and go back to work.

    Better strategy is to grab a spot Thursday morning. Lot 3 gets into full Appalachian Ghetto mode on weekends and the week between Xmas and New Years. Rules say max 3 consecutive nights (4 on 3-day weekends) but I've seen guys drive out and drive back in a few minutes later, hence the popularity of FREE LOT 3 bumper stickers

    Appalachian Ghetto
    Yeah, I've also heard it equated Caligula...
    The Lot 3 crowd is a pretty regular group that goes back a long, long ways, a specific list of skiers.
    I would go so far as to say they assume a sort of squatters rights.

    And, another groomer day. Hit the top of 2 for a run. Too variable for me to have much fun on. More work than enjoyment. Groomer laps were bullet proof at alpy. Much better over at central, although I'm almost over it. Keep telling myself that when it does snow, I'll be lapping the losers that have been sitting at home waiting for it.

    It doesn't have to be powder to be fun (bring the powder though).

    This is true, although, I think it's more accurate in regards to skiing than snowboarding.

    Nice vid, but that "music" hurts my head.
