Raddam beat me to it. While the 5-day forecast they posted looks promising, some first hand beta re:how the mountain is skiing would be really helpful. Bueller...Bueller...

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh...what's their forcast say? Cus it's colder than a witch's tit here right now and it hasn't snowed anything significant since Boxing Day! The forcast we get here in Nelson is cold and clear till Friday, snow Friday/Sat, then an even colder larger arctic high moving in. The backcountry is being tracked super fast and the snowpack, while being solid, isn't significant. I'd be a little concerned about that snowpack depth, if we don't get much out of this coming storm and that high builds in. I'm keepin my fingers crossed that the weatherman we get, blows his call, cus I'm off the 9 to 5, hopin to get some shots during the comp week. I haven't skied at Red, but Whitewater is only 30 miles as the crow flies and we sure could use a real big dump and we have more snow!

-17 C with a windchill that brings her down to -25 C would prolly suffice!

Not alot of snow. The last couple dumps they got a little more than whitewater which is unusual. I was up on the weekend and every line on the mountain has been tracked as it has been about a week since they had fresh. Generally hard conditions, not a lot of snow if you are into hucking your meat but a little 10 -15 foot drop will find you a 2-8 untracked turns. If you are in to high speed groomers or you are 3-7 years old it's in good shape otherwise save your $51.30CAD lift ticket price (tax in.) and go to Utah. If you're comming for the comp sharpen your edges and prepare to have your teeth rattled. Pray for this fucking nationwide high pressure to break followed by dump upon dump.

Weekend of the 8th & 9th I'm not sure if I will be around. I'm awaiting a call from a buddy who is in Golden to hit Rogers pass. If I haven't heard from him by tommorow there is a good chance I'll be up at Red at least one day. The other will likely be spent touring. You got touring gear?

I think you should rephrase that to "it's skiffing" Beav. It snowed what, maybe 1cm before it stopped. Better break out the snorkles !

It was snowing when I posted that. OK so it did stop after about a cm but it has started again. At this rate they may have 10 -15 cm by the competition. Keep prayin' guys.

Keep prayin'. It's working. It "skiffed" us about 6" last night and it is still "skiffing."

Heavy snow fall warning now issued for Nelson. Here's hoping Red gets hit hard!
