You should bring a really long stick to cook your hot dogs and marshmallows.

Deep Eddy, Barton Springs, Floating the Guadalupe
Alamo Drafthouse
There's undoubtedly some good live music going on in multiple places.
On the cheap, there's quite a few disc golf courses that are fun... haven't been back in a few years but I used to live there.

I don't know how Rudy's gets rated so high. It's shit compared to Salt Lick.

Apparently you can go down with a truck right now, and someone will give you a cow just because.

Respectfully disagree. I have eaten at both many, many times. Rudy's extra-moist brisket is amazing and their sauce is fantastic. It's also significantly cheaper. I love the Salt Lick, but you can't exactly specify how you like your brisket done (extra moist, please) and it comes pre-slathered in the Salt Lick's sauce. Both are very good and worth visiting though.
Others: Ruby's is good. The County Line is great for ribs. Stubb's and the Iron Works are good but I like the others mentioned better. Kruetz Market and Louis Meuller are very good if you don't mind driving to Lockhart or Taylor, Texas. Cooper's I found overrated.
For Tex-Mex: I like Vivo, El Chile, and Guero's, but there are many, many more.
Go to the Broken Spoke on a Friday or Saturday night for distinctly Texan (but fun) scene.
6th Street is fun if you are young (under 26) but kind of loud and obnoxious once you get older. I prefer South Congress or some of the places just off of 6th Street.
See a UT football game if there's one on. Great fans, cute girls, quality football.

people are selling (if they can) their herds just to stay afloat. it's been a brutally hot summer. if any of you are in the hay business, good hay is going for a serious premium down here right now.
kreuz's is definitely worth the drive and if you go to rudy's grad some of their pork tenderloin.

Reimers ranch (grid bolt sport) or Enchanted rock (trad/runout sport) if you're a climber. Both fun for their respective people groups, but rarely do people who like Reimers also like E-rock, and vice versa. I love e-rock.
Reimers also has decently fun mountain biking for the area if you feel the need.
The greenbelt is a nice getaway in the middle of the city if you're hot. I'm not sure but I think it may be spring fed so there might actually be some water in it to do some swimming (wading more likely).
I prefer Salt lick over Rudy's. +1 on Kreutz
ACL is next weekend if thats when you're going. Could probably still grab tickets, even if there aren't any that weekend if a mega-party pretty much everywhere music can be played.

BTW, the river is still floatable
This was a month ago at a 52CFS output from the dam. The current output is 68CFS.
It's just a slower float and there might be a couple butt dragging spots.
Great way to kill a hot day, and one of the few things I miss about living in Austin besides actually being able to ride a mountain bike in town rather than driving 45 mins.Training for Alpental
