Is this a tire you'd run both front and rear, or mix-and-match it with a different pattern?

I've run this tire for awhile too (in the 2.1 iteration). Maybe its cause its a 2.1 and I can't run it tubeless hence need to run 45+psi to keep from flatting but I don't LOVE it. It's fast but not as fast as I'd expect. It does have great traction in some conditions and I love the way it corners but all things considered I find myself in conditions that this tire does not thrive in too much to keep it on my bike. (wet)

Nice review...but I'm a bit jealous of your ability to get DH casing Super Tacky's. I noticed you avoided putting a fact out there such as the WEIGHT. I'm curious though

I still pretty much agree 100% with the positive dry condition review. I love railing these tires and I'm lacking enough aggression, so I even keep the single ply DTC's together. Although I've switched to Caffe Latex just cause I noticed my 1st set of BBG's were softening a bit with Stans. (It won't seal a trail puncture bigger then a needle hole, but I don't plan on Stans to do that either anymore)

BTW - I finally figured out why I would occasionally have a front end drift on corners that I can't lean the bike into due to space or confidence. Small twigs and branches. If they are lined up in the direction of travel as you come around the corner the high number of evenly spaced center knobs just roll the twig like a roller bearing over the hardpack (sorry, just couldn't use my planned wording now that I'm a father of a little girl). Most tires I've ran in the past had an open spacing so this just didn't happen. Still debating pulling the Barracuda off the front and switching back to a BBG, but it just won't die (stupid hard compound )

Come on, look at this thing. It couldn't possibly be MORE open. Just keep turning and stay light enough that you can correct if you don't get past the twig.

I think that is exactly what I feel. It just happens so fast that it catches me off guard. I probably only drift 6" but it's instantly and then I catch hard. I'll probably just learn to adjust my style and commit more.

I guess I'll be mounting my 4th BBG this week.

Yeah, KW, total DUH.

Actually, I have a confession to make. I never actually ran it in the wet.

I just know I'm too lazy and bad at planning my time. That means when it rains I'm not going to spend an extra 20 minutes swapping tires. Run wut you brung is more my style. Thus, I'd rather deal with the extra Rolling resitance of a high roller, minion or similar (or even a racing ralph) and have center knobs in the rain and not deal with switching tires. Simple as that!

i think one miss-conception about the BBG is that it is fast like an XC tire. its not. its a dry condition (ie. dry condition does NOT mean "it rained last night, and is 80 out, so its not muddy. i mean desert dry), trail bike tire. so if you live in flagstaff, utah, denver, junction, etc then its totally worth checking out. if you live high-alpine and ride dirt and regular levels of rain, then this is not your huckleberry.

but for what the BBG is good at, it is simply the best at.
