Just had a nice snowy drive from TC to Squaw. Falling nicely although not much had accumulated anywhere. Looking promising right now.

    2" at 6600' in Incline.
Maybe 5" at the parking lot for Hourglass.

Here's a photo I took of Twin Peaks yesterday around 4:30. I pretty sure it looks a bit different now.

needs more snow. went to carson pass and my gut was telling me to keep going to kirkwood. when i say that i mean my stomach was revolting (hangover) and there was no way i could start hiking at that time. i thought i'd check out the wood and if i didn't feel better just pick up my pass. as soon as i pulled into kirkwood drive my stomach felt 100% and up i went. I had 1 turn with the old snow base under the new, and it was phenomenal. then it was 10-14" of superlight on top of nothing the rest of the way down. good times.
carson pass on last years snow would be money.

I went XC skiing today on the old paved road from Luther to Hope Valley. Coverage was adequate for xc rock skis but we had bad icing issues. Went a half mile and then played with beacons.

    Thumbs up bump

Am I really the only one going to the movie at Moment tonight? As a poor grad student I really appreciate the free screenings and $1 beer, gives me a reason to stop grading exams and think about the fact that I'll probably be skiing this month!

I want to see the movie for sure but here is the weather forecast. It's an outdoor showing. I can crank the fireplace and get a 12 pack of PBR for $9 and watch the movie at home.

    Forecast for Reno:

    Special Weather Statement

Tonight...Snow likely in the evening...then snow after midnight. Snow accumulation up to 2 inches. Lows 24 to 29. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Gusts up to 30 mph in the evening.

While I don't disagree with the wisdom of your fireplace/beer plan, at the same time it would probably be good preparation for ski season to be battered by the elements in your ski gear. Or something.

Spent the day at BoringHill today and will be back there tomorrow. The high temp I saw was 26° today. Yes, it was shocking after a whole lotta summer skiing in shorts.

not terribly sig here in T/D.

they plowed the main roads, but nobody came to plow my driveway and while it looks like somewhere between 1-2" accumulated on the roof and road, I can't see much difference in the 6" on the back deck from Friday.

again, the fact that they haven't plowed any driveways = not terribly significant to me.

The bonus, however, is that due to colder temps, quite a bit of the snow that fell on Thursday night/Friday morning is still lingering and hasn't melted much at a lower elevation such as T/D.

Twas not a good idea. Saw Seanhav & crew. I think the general concenus was that it was pretty fucking horrible. I might have had like 3-4 "good" turns & that is pushing it. I think i have fulfilled my quota for hitting rocks this year.
