Backcountry Gear You're Stoked about for this fall...
Dude/ettes,
It's been long, so long. I know I've not been around here much, but looking for a bit of help.
Need to create a list of backcountry stuff you guys are stoked about that is new for this fall. I've got skis, boots, bindings, and outerwear down, but I've not been paying too much attention to:
beacons
skins
shovels
probes
packs
gloves
anything else that's awesome
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. I just got back from 11 weeks in Central America and snow has not been on my mind for some time. I know all my answers are here, just trying to avoid wading through it all. Best, jROBOTS ARE EATING MY FACE.

I have provided more than enough sound advice, despite stupid questions that get repeated over and over every season, to get thrown a bone. Besides, it's August 8, don't pretend like you have much better to do when you're on here.

I want to see all the new hybrid boots that are supposed to be coming out. I have some Dynafit Zzeus that are pretty beat after 3 seasons. I need to replace them, but want to see what's there before I make a call. By hybrid boots, I mean boots that function nearly as well as Alpine boots, but offer a vibram sole and dynafiddle connectors.

In any case, if you're ever really in this situation make sure you at least bargain in a couple of fluffers.

abs style airbags. i have a BCA coming personally. i think in a couple years they will be seen as a critical component to compliment beacon/shovel/probe.

I'm pretty excited about my Dynadukes and Sollyfit plates. They'll definitely expand the versatility of my quiver. I'm also looking forward to a full season on my Dynafit FT 12s and Titan boots, which I got only last April.

Thanks for the serious responses.
Hugh, what makes you think this has anything to do with ski media? You're not worth shit. Too many Urkels on your team, Winslow. I dare you to not respond to this. I'll bet you $100 you can't shut the fuck up until the first opening day in North America.ROBOTS ARE EATING MY FACE.

I couldn't agree more. (I feel like I've been leg humping MO lately, but when he gives advise you can take it to the bank.)
I'll add Arcteryx Alpha SV gloves. My hands get cold easily, especially if I have to take off my gloves. If these gloves are as dexterous as people say, they'll solve what is for me a big problem. As a bonus, the other big hitters in the glove business will have to figure out how to make more dexterous gloves to compete with them. Win-win.

If you are looking to buy some of that shit check out Sierra trading post. They had an Ortovox S1 (pretty sure that is the model-the newest flip open beacon they make) as well as probes and shovels. Seems you can always find a 20% or more off coupon and there are ways to get free shipping if the coupon does not include it.
First time I have seen STP carry a beacon.
Agree with Marshal about the airbags. They have intrigued me for a long time and the survival rate statistics are really amazing. Just out of my price range now. Even though they greatly improve chances of survival and decrease injury, I worry whether I might be more likely to tickle sleeping dragons if I had one. I can manage steepness, exposure and snow conditions, but I can not manage the white wave-long standing fear.

Echo the boots, after two seasons trying to cram my feet into dynafiddleable boots, I'm back to Dukes with alpine boots...until the hybrids mentioned above are available.
Like I told my last wife, I never drive faster than I can see, besides it's all in the reflexes.

I skied last winter with prototypes of the new K2 tools, and I'm really psyched on how they came out. The Rescue Shovel comes with hardware in it to rig the shovel to the tip/tail holes on the skis to make a rescue sled. Only other piece you need to make it work is 5m cord, so it's a pretty nice emergency backup without having to carry a separate sled. After hearing a couple stories last year of long extractions from BC and dealing with a knee injury in Alpental BC, rescue equipment's been more on my mind. The hoe mode works really well to move a lot of snow, excavating pits is much faster too.
Other piece is the new poles, with a bubble inclinometer. I used this a ton, just put the pole on the slope and measure slope angle. Super easy to use on the fly, and using it a lot gave me a better perspective in guessing then checking slope angles (which a lot of people misread badly).

G3 has some new splitboard skins with a tail clip dealy. From what I've heard the G3 Alpinist is shitty compared with BD made skins, but I'm glad someone finally gave us a tail clip. Come on BD and/or Voile!
