    the good song thread

If you post in here to show everybody how cool you are I will hunt you down and kill you.

This thread is to tag songs that you think are great -WHEN YOU HEAR THEM. DO NOT SIT THERE AND THINK OF YOUR FAVORITE SONGS or I will kill you.

    KILL.

    Proceed.

I've heard a few tonight, actually:

    Blackird: Beatles
    Vamos: Pixies
One Time One Night: Los Lobos
    Juke: Little Walter

People always just pile shit on in threads like this to show how cool they are, but if you could just mention songs that you think are OUTSTANDING then this thread might have a purpose.

To be honest the first song that came to mind was What's On My Mind by Kansas.

OK I know, now I'll get my ass kicked for being unbelievably cool, but in my defense, it's not an act.

Technically two songs, but they're both great songs. (Is linking vids against the rules? I'm confused)

Along Along the Watchtower - Eddy Vedder Version.

Monkey Gone to Heaven - the Pixies

are a couple that have been receiving heavy rotation for me lately.

Whistling Songs for me in the summer.
Foster The People-Pumped Up Kicks. Catchy tune, wacky lyrics.
    Edward Sharpe-Home
One other one popped on my iPod last night while riding that made me ride like the wind, Janes Addiction-Summertime.

I've been listening to a bunch of alt country lately.
Son Volt-Tear Stained Letter is such a great damn tune
    Gear Daddies-Sometimes I Need a Drink
    Wilco
    Drive by Truckers-Annette
    Drivin Cryin-Straight to Hell.

Must be that it is wheat whackin time and I'm thinking home.

Dang the first few posts reveal some olde tyme demo...

In the "songs from a movie soundtrack" division...

Beck - Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime

    Gary Jules - Mad World

Whenever I build playlists on my ipod, I usually include both of these.

Not sure if I've broken iceman's rules. I did pull up both of these videos and listen to the songs first, before posting.

Jump into the fire. Harry Nilsson. The version by LCD Soundsystem is a spot on remake.

ALWAYS makes me think of the drug bust scene in Goddfellas where Ray Lioatta is fraking out.

Fuck, so hard to pick just a good song. I keep thinking of bands that produced a shit pile of great songs. Most of the ones I've heard recently (my play list so....) don't belong in the good song thread because they are great songs, heard these on the way in to work today London Calling, Que Onda Guero, Short Shirt Long Jacket, Psycho Killer, .....

    Frequent Repeats:
Paul Simon - The Obvious Child
Mattafix - Big City Life and Gangsta Blues
    Alexander - Truth
    Nothing cool from here.

ditto. I really like the song but whenever I hear it I get that tweaker frantic thing he had going on in that portion of the movie. I'll be riding my bike and visualize him bombing around in the big 2dr Caddie, sweating, cutting, watching the heli. Why is my nose itching right now?
