Kickass newer song from The Smithereens. Video's kinda overproduced but the song rocks.

Excuse the piggyback post, but the Smithereens rock. I was working out in the yard today when this one came on:

Those lyrics always spoke to me.

I think me and Meadow Skipper might be soulmates. Here's one from the Joe files (Alex Chilton at age 17, wtf?!? Genius.):

And this one, no video, just listen to the song:

Can you imagine asking Chilton to lip sync? Was that Ed Sullivan?

    Edited to add:

Such a great song: Vocal's really forward in the mix though. It needs to be back a bit.

Time has not been kind to Patti, though, yikes:

I was shuffling through my music library when this came on:

went back and listened to the whole album.

+1 for sly and the family. has anyone ever been as awesome while wearing a sequined cowboy hat?
We heard you in our twilight caves, one hundred fathom deep below, for notes of joy can pierce the waves, that drown each sound of war and woe.

The local college radio station has had this song on rotation all summer. I caught it at lunchtime today:

Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

Actually, Yes. Springsteen may have written it but Manfred Mann made it a hit - kinda like Hendrix owning Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower."

Can't call it "good" by any means but Foster the People's "Pumped Up Kicks " is totally stuck in my head today.

Gotta disagree. Comparing a cheesed up cover of this , from a classic rock album, to the best cover song of all time, well, I disagree.

You really think this is better?

and hendrix didn't make all along the watch tower a hit, he just made it perfect. sort of like stevie ray did with little wing and voodoo chile

obviously thats just my opinion, and one i know isn't the most popular one.
