Vast indifference of Heaven by Warren zevon never gets "skipped" when it gets shuffled onto my iPod. I also almost never skip Lazy Eye by silversun pickups since I came across the song in my Guitar Hero days. Another song that sticks in my head is Won't Back Down by eminimem ever since it was the title song in the last CoD

Since we haven't gone there yet and another nod to the era - Back in Black - AC/DC which was played many, many times through that sound system.

    I love that tune!
Heard me some Sabbra Cadabra this afternoon on the Sirius and then they play a few seconds of this in the outro music for the Giants postgame show.

Been all over Neko Case's "Hold On, Hold On" this morning.

The big chill soundtrack was a mainstay in the house when I was a kid. This song has always been my favorite.

This song's been in my head for months. Fantastic.

What - talk about cars and radio and music and no Lynard Skynard? Always love that "turn it up" in Sweet Home Alabama - how'd he know?

Anyway - prior mention of NRBQ - had "Howard Johnson" and "Get Rhythm when you get the Blues" rocking the ear buds recently.

Steely Dan - saw them again at Ives in CT two weeks ago - as usual stunning musicianship, and 5,000 people belting out every tune. Unfortunately my travel plans have been changed so I don't think I'll see them at the NYC Beacon Theater in late Sept. Every night is a different album, and then they'll be a "request" night. FKNA. Somebody put in "Don't take me alive" for me.

Damn. Those are 2 good ones ice. My little sister played Rock On until the 45 was worn out but I can't help but crank it up whenever I hear it now.

I bought my first CD player in '79 or '80. It cost me $1,000 but I thought it was worth every cent. It was almost impossible to find any decent CD's at the time, so I wound up listening to the CD that came with the new player a LOT. It was a compilation of digitally recorded or mastered songs and Avalon was one of the songs on it. I knew Roxy Music had been around for a while but I never really got into their stuff until I heard Avalon.

I heard this one today. It's pretty sappy but holds a lot of great memories...

    Copperhead Road

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvaEJzoaYZk&ob=av3e

    Bad Ass Country song.

    Last verse...

I volunteered for the Army on my birthday
They draft the white trash first,'round here anyway
I done two tours of duty in Vietnam
And I came home with a brand new plan
I take the seed from Colombia and Mexico
I plant it up the holler down Copperhead Road
Well the D.E.A.'s got a chopper in the air
I wake up screaming like I'm back over there
I learned a thing or two from ol' Charlie don't you know
You better stay away from Copperhead Road
