Ogden should be 1.0 on the scale
Cities can then be expressed in terms of Ogdens
Better cities should be > 1.0
Lesser cities should be < 1.0
0.0 is a limit that decimals approach but never reach because zero is non-existence
so,
0.0 < (worse than Ogden) < (Ogden = 1.0) < (better than Ogden)
Telluride is 6 Og, (or whatever factor) "6 Ogdens"
Magna is 0.2 Og, (or whatever factor) "1/5 of an Ogden"

^^^ I think that's backwards.

Even if you replaced every crunchy, granola-huffing, trustafari in Telluride with squirrely trigger-happy methtucky cranksters it still wouldn’t be 6 Ogdens.
Get real up in here.

The Ogden Unit is a Unit of Urban Nastiness.
It’s named for Ogden Utah, but is not functionally tied directly to any ongoing status of Ogden Utah.
More Ogdens is more Units of Nasty. Negative Ogdens are effectively Units of Niceness.
Telluride would have to be like -8 Ogdens.

No it's the other way around. Well it depends if there's an inversion.

...still seems like it should be a multiplier...

I thought it was logarithmic, like the Richter scale.

It's similar to the Saffir-Simpson scale really.

I'm still waiting for an update on Ogden's current rating. If it started as 5, it seems like it should have drifted down to like 2 or 3 Ogdens by some reports (I only drive through).

It sure seems like it’s trending zero to negative. But yeah, I don’t know either. We won’t really know unless some Ogdeñeros give us the beta.

Is the Ogden a time dependent measure? Is the benchmark based on Ogden in 1995, or Ogden today?

If a place has a persistent stench, that's not helping anything.

Vega, Tx?
Got a big ol stockyard that commands your attention for miles along I-40. Got a famous Boy's Ranch north of town with lots of escape attempts.
Lots of sunshine though, as any trees you might find are carefully tended ornamentals planted to shade houses in a time before air conditioning. Temps zero to 110. Water >10ph, comes out of the ground ~90f.
Great neighbors:
Bustling night life:
Fine architecture:
How many New Ogdens?

I don’t know enough to know.
Is there a lot of crime? are things in general disrepair? Latent hostility?
Or do it this way: would you rather be in Vega or in Juarez?
Vega or Detroit?
Vega or Tulsa?
Etc until you can place it somewhere logical.

I was in Ogden for 4 days last month.
It ain't what it was in the oughties which cuts both ways.
No where near as many sketchy people, Adams is no longer a shooting zone, real estate has doubled in price, lots of good restaurants.
It's affordable, lots of job growth potential, lots of skiing, boating, swimming, fishing within an hours drive and not that much competition for any of that compared to Tahoe, Jackson, Seattle, Denver, or Durango.Merde De Glace On the Freak When Ski

Sounds like a solid negative 2 or 3.
