Deseret Peak, UT road information?

Anybody have a sense of whether the road toward the north face of Deseret peak (South Willow Rd?) is open at the moment? I know the gate status on this road can be the difference between a shorter, straightforward approach and a double track slog...

Can't tell you any specifics for this season, but usually it opens in mid-to-late May. Two seasons ago (which was about 30-40 inches less snow than this season, and I think there were fewer late season storms), the gate opened just before Memorial Day, which is when we headed up there. Then the road washed out a week later. I also know of a group who went up before the gate was open and simply moved it out of the way and drove up to the trailhead. Guess it wasn't all that permanent.

I'd give the Forest Service a call. There's not much else going on out at Deseret, so it falls under the Salt Lake Ranger District.
