Enchiladafest 3.0
Who's in and who's organizing this? We should camp upstream of where we did last year, forget the name of the campsite, but it's secluded, huge, and believe it has a pavilion. If I figure out the name I'll post up.

There are a few great campsites right on LPS or UPS, I'm not sure which, a ways up Sand Flats Road. It doesn't have any facilities other than a bathroom.

I am in this time around. I would be happy to help plan as well.
So all plans are being finalized now. If you have signed up here and on Facebook please make note that you have RSVP'd both places. Campsites have been reserved and payed for. Please pay pal your $ to Beaterdit and we will suss out allocation of said funds to camp sites and shuttles and any superfluous funds will go towards hookers and blow.
Bring a tent, food, beer, sunscreen, water, water, a bad disposition and good music(not what you think is good, I mean good. Like Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys)
We will Shuttle on Saturday morning and be splitting in to three groups based on skill level, ego and your personal durability. People who's egos tell them to be in A group are welcome to fall back to B group or even C group when they realize that they are not as B.A. as they thought they are. We will welcome you to the lower tiers of the riding realm.
You should bring the prerequisite Enchiladas or some form of mexican inspired culinary creation.
I will continue to add more info to this post as things come to light over the next few weeks.
Also this stuff too from a little further down:
OK, this is the sign up list.
The dates are Sept 30th-Oct 1st with the Whole Enchilada ride and Enchilada fiesta being on Sat Oct 1st.
Cost is $15 per person for both nights of camping with extra funds going toward beer like last year.
The Bike shuttle for the ride is $20 CASH ONLY PAYABLE TO THE SHUTTLE DRIVER on the morning of.
Please Paypal CAMPING FEEs ONLY, specify "personal payment" to:

And copy and paste your name and the names of any others you intend to bring here.Last edited by Missiongravity; 08-23-2011 at 12:28 PM.

This defeats the purpose of rolling right into camp after the ride, we'd have to have shuttles at the end, this is a deal breaker with that many people.
The Big Bend group site C is the one True's talking about, but it's all booked up except for mid sept.
The site we had last year is open Sept 30-Oct 1, it's a good site, perfect location, but we had some problems with noise complaints and law enforcement last year. I don't think it's too hard to avoid that kinda thing though.Last edited by beaterdit; 05-05-2011 at 10:48 AM.

OK, Myself and Mission Gravity are taking point on this. Between us and JTrue we've made an executive decision as follows:
We are reserving both group sites at Goose island to hopefully eliminate all conflict/noise/parking considerations and keep the same weekend from the last two years. It will be a little more expensive this way but seems like a winning plan. This will run us $250 for up to 65 people, obviously we won't have that many. That boils down to $15 a head for both nights at 20 people, any extra funds will go to beer like last year. Shuttle will be extra, $20/person cash only IIRC.Last edited by beaterdit; 05-05-2011 at 12:44 PM.

I'm in. I'm sure I could wrangle a few more degenerates to add to noise issues if needed.

I know early October is normally well into the cool down, but after last years sufferfest through the heat on the bottom 3rd, I'm not for doing it any earlier than the 1st weekend in October.
I also don't think that getting the second group site is worth it. There are still individual campsites that could complain of noise. I doubt the same campsitter is there this year, so I'm in favor of making the same reservations, but maybe give people a heads up - offer people the day before to come over for Enchiladas. People would be less likely to complain if we feed themOriginally Posted by wintermittentOriginally Posted by snowsprite

I don't think $15/person is too much to pay for the luxury of having the whole dam Goose Island campground to ourselves.
Maybe not a bad idea to consider stashing a couple gallons of water somewhere around the top of Porc for cooling/refilling this year? The killer awoke before dawn.

With this much notice, I think I could pull this off even if I end up having tests near the date. Count me in (for real this time).

Pfft, believe it when I see it...
Sites are reserved.
I truly apologize if the lack of a democratic process has ruffled anyone's feathers but the group sites on 128 were all mostly full and we had to move fast. I think with us getting both group sites, things should work out fine.
The sites there work really well for the shuttle pickup and for different groups trickling in off the trail at their own pace. Basically the day of the ride and fiesta, nobody has to get in their car at all.
All right, here's some links to what to expect at Enchiladafest:

We can't commit quite yet, but after the hiatus last year we would love to get in on it again.

I still haven't done this with y'all, but still hopeful. And good on ya for making the executive decision. Sometimes that is the way to go.
