    Favorite trout streamer?

My wife decided to take up tying after going to a tying club with me last week. She has tied a few buggers, and worms and so far so good. I am at a loss though for some easy to tie streamers that she can practice on, as well as use next week when we head to Montana. So what have you got?

The slump buster is simple and effective. Rabbit, diamond braid, and a cone is all you need.

The second pattern I tied after the wooly bugger was a stayner ducktail (recipe from google). It's pretty straight forward and catches fish. When tied in larger sizes, many of the classic nymphs are good for beginner tiers too--just add a bead for fishability.

    I second the Slumpbuster.

A standard Zonker is will be fine. It's just hook, thread, crystal chenille, wire, zonker strip.

The only streamer I ever catch anything with is an olive/black wooly. Sometimes with a gold cone. 2 - 10.

Nice selection of old school streamers guys....try this one when you are ready to join the modern era. Best streamer pattern to come along since the clouser. Fucking so, so deadly tied up small in a 1 inch fry pattern.

Quoted for truth! I am a firm believer in the articulated streamer.

I don't actually have the patience to tie ANYTHING. But I have a buddy who guides on a local river who ties our own alcohol induced version of an articulated version of the double bunny that is like heroin for the browns. I will ask him if he minds sharing the recipe.

I catch more fish on this classic spruce fly than most others, something about thin dressing with the red and peacock that makes crazy!
