STD Testing?
So, I need to go get a general STD test, but I have never had one before and was hoping someone could answer a couple questions for me.
First, I have no symptoms and have not been banging a bunch of chicks or had unprotected sex. I have been seeing a girl for many months and it is getting very serious. She is on the pill and we had a discussion of ditching the condom and decided that out of respect and what not we should both get tested. She has a gyno and what not that she goes to. I have not been to a doctor in 6 or 7 years...and should probably get a physical anyhow.
I read a couple things that going to your GP and using your health insurance for STD screening can cause issues with life insurance and what not...then I looked online and there are several services that do it, but it is like $250. I also read that there are free clinics or something? Are there cheaper alternatives?
Just curious what the maggot experience is with this kind of thing. I am in Denver if anyone knows of clinics in the area.
Thanks for the help, wise and experienced maggots!

County health services usually test for free.
Planned Parenthood is great for this kind of stuff if it hasn't been shut down.
And Pedro in Aurora will ram a coat hanger up your dick while his old lady throws chicken bones for $15.

So is it preferential to go through a clinic rather then your regular doctor?

DO NOT LET THE DR. SHOVE A Q-TIP UP YOUR PENIS. TRUST ME.
Turns out the Dr. was trying to discourage me from having unprotected sex and that other tests are not so....invasive.
20 years later, the Dr. is dead, and I can still remember the pain.

Had a very similar situation with a girl in Denver. If her name initials are CW, just put it in her butt and she can quit the birth control.
Butt really, went to the Planned Parenthood in Boulder and got a free test. And like Gatorboy says, they had me pee in a cup instead of the ol Q-tip. Everything went well, bare backing ensued, everybody goes to sleep happy.

No need to go through testing...
Pepper spray applied liberally to the potentially affected areas will cure you of anything.
$15 vs $250, is a no brainer.Screw the net, Surf the backcountry!

Thanks for the advice guys. I think I am going to go to the free clinic...hopefully I don't see anyone I know...but the risk seems worth it and I want to put her mind at ease.

Seriously though: There is no risk to getting tested. Go to Planned Parenthood.

"I don't get the regular AIDS test anymore. I get the roundabout AIDS test. I ask my friend Brian, "Do you know anybody who has AIDS?". He says, "No". I say, "Cool, because you know me."

Reminds me of an old joke.
Two guys are hanging out and one tells the other, "Man, my girlfriend just bled to death from gonorrhea."
"What?" said the other. "You don't bleed to death from gonorrhea."
"You do when you give it to me."

Really? This was deserving of an alias? What the fuck have we come to?
This is even less alias-deserving than the bloody shit question.

Come on, no one said anything was bleeding. That would be advanced stage and no clinic would be needed, you would know.

Better get tested soon, before Michelle Bachmann wipes out Planned Parenthood, 'the Lenscrafters of abortion'
I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...iscariot

If you are embarrassed to get tested for STD's, then you probably shouldn't be having "big people time" anyway...
You should have been here yesterday!

Who said anything about being embarrassed about getting tested? I was just asking if it is best to go to a free clinic, pay the big charge for testing, or go to your doctor and use your insurance. I had read that using your insurance can cause issues with your insurance rates for things like health insurance and life insurance and didn't know if it was true.
As far as using an alias...that is simply because I know some mags personally and socially and can imagine being out with my girlfriend and one of them saying..."remember that thread you started about getting tested for STDs?"
Then I would have to deal with her, and she would not be mad, but I think she might be embarrassed and why even bother dealing with that?
