I'm of a similar mind set... the only way I find jogging interesting is on crampons and ice axes s on a snow and ice ridge with 1000's of vertical feet of drop on either side, after crushing a technical climb... ya right.

The guy is an absolute animal, so calm and collected doing shit that would make almost anyone, including the people on here, shit a brick on the spot.

I think for those heli shots they must have used a Cineflex like Brainfarm does, the footage is just so smooth and aesthetic.

RIDICULOUS. I dont think that was all filmed on the same day though. He goes back and forth between nomics and quarks a couple times.

EDIT: someone beat me to noticing it.

That dry tooling bit made me think he was a loon, but a very fit & focused loon.
    Yikes, incredible.

That dude is a crazy mofo. After the Eiger he ascended the Matterhorn north face in under 2 hrs.

Hope he stays around long though considering the risks he's taking.

Seems like he should be at least wearing a BASE chute. That's some seriously crazy shit.

oh, and how does he get down? Does he climb back down pretty much the same route he went up?

Same way all climbers get back down, rappelling. Most likely from an established spot since it's the Eiger and it's been climbed thousands of times. Notice the rope slung around his torso.

There is an easy walk down on the west face of the Eiger that is the standard climbers descent route. There are maybe two fixed rope areas or so that you dont even clip into, just hold onto like a hand rail. The fixed ropes are on sections on hard fourth class/ super easy fifth class climbing, although I have only done it in the summer so Im not sure how much harder it is with snow coverage.

The part not in the film is where Ueli is banging Nordic Goddess triplets for 36 hours straight before heading out.

Running along the knife edge ridge in crampons seemed like the sketchiest part.

3 points of contact... he knows what he's doing. Saw this at the Reel Rock Film Tour in Boulder. Sick. Digging the music too. One of my favorite songs.

obviously he knows what he's doing and is utterly focused doing it. but he doesn't have a lot of room for error.

    While the Eiger is impressive...

I still say that Smith on Matterhorn in even quicker time and then the Jorasses were far more impressive things (alas, no video just pics). Not to mention Ginat on Droites which he pretty much flew up as well...

Then again, I seem to recall he nearly onsighted FreeRider on El Cap (on his honeymoon, non the less). But that was roped (with his wife).

    Ah, forget it..

    Here's Ginat on Droites:

    And Jorasses:

And on El Cap it was Golden Gate, not Freerider:

Super good song. Ben Cooper (Radical Face) has some other songs worth listening to as well.
