A few pics from Smuggs 04'

Finally there is another maggot at smuggs. He is a bit of a lurker on the board but it doesn't matter cause he can rip it on the tele sticks. He goes by the name of Sequoiashan here on the board.

Here are a few from an early season hike upto the peak of Madonna.

The snow in these last three is actually a bit deeper than it appears. I'd estimate roughly boot top cream in these stashes. Still a bit of stuff sticking up in places but all in all, with the crappy start to the EC season, we are beinging to get there. One more good storm and things will be filling in nicely.

No skis were hurt in the photographing of this session.

His other skis are Stromriders would they have been more appropriate?

ah! making me reminise here. I learned to ski at Smuggs. It's still my second favorite place in the east (behind MRG).

Heh, those two places make me think I need to learn how to ski. They definitely make all the woods skiing around here seem so easy.

I think I met that guy at Smuggs. Nice powder day.

You did meet that guy up at Smuggs, on the hike/skin up to Spruce on a nice day. Things are starting to fill in pretty well, you still have to be careful in the woods though. Skied some hardcore thwack today, myself I enjoy a sapling or two in the teeth here and there...keeps you honest. I'd love some lake effect. we need it. two more feet or so and we are good to go and if all goes well I'll put the ol' Stowe pass to use after the blackout dates and begin an all out assault on all that is fresh within the Notch.

I was at Stowe today, off trail all day, up around the chin etc checking out some stuff. Definitely needs another two feet. Most of the woods skiing that pops out on the notch is not truly doable yet.

    Maybe this snow tonight??

Looking out the window (I live really close to the Notch) we only got a couple of inches of creamy snow, should buff things out some but....Been looking up towards the Chin and the other zones wondering how long it will be. The woods, well you have to use the force and know what lies under the snow, the very well maintained is getting good but lots of hobblebush and such to battle on the way down. If we can hold on to this base...
