Just got back, it was pretty firm to say the least, fortunately for you they are now getting some much needed snow. It had not snowed since Feb 19, a small system came through last week giving Girdwood an inch & Anchorage 4. The CPG crew will take good care of you & get you to the goods if they are there to be had.

We were there last week (PNH) and it was frozen wind-board, slide-for-life conditions, that required a chainsaw if a pit needed to be dug.
And I haven't even mentioned the 2-3' high, impenetrable sastrugi. Good luck.
That being said, it is AK.I have mastered all major sporting activities to a high degree of mediocrity.

Mar/April is not always the best of conditions in higher Chugach elevations. But every year is different. You might want to stick to the lower elevations, where you'll still find plenty of snow but less wind-blown crust crap. If you haven't put money down for a heli yet, you might want to put that money towards a snowmachine trip or snowcat trip instead. Plenty of snow to be had lower without needing heli.
