Great composition and cinematography. The skiing wasn't too shabby either.

That was really bad ass!
Can't wait for the follow-ups.
Are you traveling with your skis? What kind of looks did you get going thru Thailand with them?

Wow, I am without a doubt one of TGR's most negative thread cunters of our time, and you sir, are WINNING!
I mean seriously, you get GNAR points just for your lack of shitty rap music in your beautiful edit.
Good stuff. Looking forward to Thailand.
One question: Obviously, if we all had the time and money to do both Honshu AND Hokkaido, we would. But after your time there, which would you choose if you had to choose just one??

Is this the new high bar for a TR? Because I might just give up at this point
Tremendous work, and looking forward to the next installment.

Amazing video, very well edited and put together. I love all the shots panning throughout the vast scenery and then into the urban environment. You really captured the "moments" in time where you take a deep breath and appreciate what life has to offer. I know that sounds cliche but your film really did hold emotion and beauty from scene to scene. Good luck with the rest of your journey, and keep us updated with any new videos!

In 2004-2005, my wife and I spent a year traveling around Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. Although we didn't even make it to Japan, watching your video really brought back the memories of the traveling life. Damn, I want to do it again!
Selfishly, I am excited to see what you put together next....if it is half as good as this installment, it will be well worth watching. I am also excited for you two, as I know what amazing things are yet to come for you guys.
Thank you very much for sharing with us.Are we part of the solution, or are we part of the pollution? -M.F.

Hohes - thank you, and no worries on meeting up, totally understandable. we did make it up goryu one day to look at the cirque, but the sun baked it pretty good. dropped off a ridge on the north side for a great consolation prize. hope i can make it back there someday, you are really lucky to live at the base of those mountains. once again i wish you and Japan the best.
thin cover - if you have any ideas on places in Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam away from the crowds i'd love to hear em. we've been on the tourist trail and are looking to get off. though Angkor looks incredible and is definitely still on the list.
WWCD - though lugging ski gear through Bangkok would make for a great movie, we forwarded them to NZ via luggageforward.com. not cheap, but it was the only thing i could come up with. worth it to have all our own gear.
helldawg - tough question. out of the two, i would say hokkaido was my "favorite" - loved the mellow vibe, tree skiing, and of course the snow. if you want to put some mellow tunes on the ipod and ski pow in the trees all day, and dont care about big mtns or big sightseeing, hokkaido is for you.
but if i go back to Japan i would go back to hakuba/honshu, because there is so much different terrain to ski there. and for a complete travel experience i might pick honshu as well, just because tokyo and kyoto are worth doing. suppose that didn't help much but its the best i can do.
snowayjose - watched some LoTR last night and drooled at the NZ hills. cant wait.
and thanks everyone for the comments. real nice to hear after putting in all the hours of work.
