    Bands with Brands

By brands, I mean a certain sound, coherency and "feeling" that exceeds just the voice of the lead vocals or tone settings of the guitar. There are bands out there that you can hear one, maybe two notes of a song you've never heard before and know who it is because of the unique character and cohesive qualities.

It's like each member feels the same about life, music or whatever they write about and it translates perfectly into each instrument, lyrics and so forth.

    Alice in Chains
    Grateful Dead
    Jane's Addiction
    Pantera

I agree with both of you, each of those bands has a distinctive and noticeable sound. I have to add Adele to the list. Maybe I am musically sheltered, but I can't think of anyone who sounds quite like her. Great new album as well.
what's so funny about peace, love, and understanding?

See, I agree with AC/dc and Black Sabbath but not GNR....don't get me wrong, I love me some Axl but they never really defined their own sound like the other two.

I was a little back and forth on them, but Slash has a pretty damn distinguishable sound (not to mention axl). I can definitely pick out a slash solo on the first one or two notes.

    The Misfits.

They've got branding covered from both the musical and business/marketing aspects. Nobody sounds like them, and you can find that logo literally everywhere.
