Should Neil Diamond be in the Rock Hall of Fame?
The guy just got Elected to to the Rock Hall Fame. Joe Cocker is not in yet. Chicago is not in yet. Is song sung blue hall of fame material?

An emphatic no. He belongs in the Hall of Lame with Engelbert Humperdink.
Silent....but shredly.

Without a doubt, he can actually rock.

He also wrote the monkeys theme song and a couple others for them.

Yes. Concert in 84 still rates among the best I've ever seen.
Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.

They are holding a spot for him. He rocks. I might not ( well definitely not) Rock him on my ipod but it's about his contribution to the world of music, not our likes or dislikes....

He wrote one helluva lot of very - and I mean VERY - popular songs over the years, some he recorded, many he didn't. And for many years he sold more tickets to live shows than damn near anyone. I got my first road job (for another act) in the early eighties whilst being a runner at a sold out string of 4 nights at the Seattle Coliseum. That's 17 thousand seats per night. In fucking Seattle. Imagine what kind of business he was doing in LA, NY, Chicago.
Like him or not he was a force to be reckoned with in the biz, and like it or not the hall of fame is largely about the biz, not the music.

The RnRHOF is a private organization that makes their own decisions about who should be inducted. Who gives a flying fuck what they do or don't do? The RnRHOF is a bunch of limp-dick bullshit.
Look who's in there and who isn't. As oftpiste said, it's about the biz, not the music, so why anyone that actually cares about music would give a shit what they do is completely beyond me....Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain...

I'MA MIME ... I'MA MIME....Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?

You know, I worked on a few commercials with Englebert's daughter back in the day and she was a real sweetheart - gracious, engaging, funny, never complained in shitty conditions. Not your typical celebrity kid so he did something right.
