Watch out for the cams, but you can go 130KM 90% of the way, so I think 1:30 is doable from GE. look forward to skiing with a mag crew!

Unfortunately I wont be able to get any of this storm as I am leaving Switzerland on Monday to return to live in South Africa permanently.

I probably wont spend much time on this board in the future, but hopefully I can catch up with some of you again if and when I make it back over here to do some skiing.

Im going to miss the skiing but hopefully the climbing, surfing, kiteboarding, great weather, and being close to family and old friends will compensate for that.
all the best, Alex, it has been to meet you.... and keep a TGR connection alive, we would love to meet you in SA if not on the alps!

Wow, the weather guys in Austria were spot on with this one. My grandmother lives in Koetschach-Mauthen and she said on the phone that she's not even on planning on leaving the house for a few days.

    At 800m sea level:

Lifts on Nassfeld not even turning due to heavy snowfalls. Base of 220cm. 100cm reported new snow. Still snowing obviously ...

Most lifts are opening this weekend. Or officially:

Dès le samedi 13 décembre 2008, ouverture de :
Tout fonctionne entre Champéry et Les Crosets sauf: TK Louis - Baby Planachaux - TK Chapelle et TK Cuboré.
    Liaison Avoriaz ouverte
    Liaison Champoussin fermée

SwissBuster Senior is reporting biblical amounts of snow from his retirement home in Champery . He's somewhat biased, though.

They've built a ski run at planpalais apparently. I'll PM you my details. I'm over the border in St Ju but it is not far from Carrouge.

Since I'm gimped, I'm definitely in for beers in GE! Some time this weekend? Friday or Saturday? Can also make it Monday if you people who can ski want to avoid hangovers during the weekend... =)

I know a few bits around Champery but have never ventured far - since I've been in CH the snow levels were normally too high.

Woot, that's where I wanted to go for next week. 530cm at 2300m altituded. About 230cm of freshies till this morning. Usually the Slovenians don't give a fuck but avalanches, but this time it maybe has been too much. Fuck all good places near Vienna seem not to be open for freeriding. Have to search on......

"FRIDAY, 12th of December. As a result of the snow storm that cought KANIN in the past 48-hours the snow level raised to the December record high of 530 centimeters.

Due to enormous amount of snow on the ski-center area and bad weather forecast, we've decided to reschedule the opening of ski-season to the second half of next week. "
