@patxi: Engelberg must be fun now. I always love the contrasts between the snowy alpine mountains and the green meadows in the valley. This is what makes spring/summer skiing so special.
We managed to get in some turns in the hills south of Vienna (Rax). However, we had to walk quite a lot ... both uphill as well as downhill.
The 'Rax Glacier' near the top peak (2007m) was almost as crowded as a real summer ski resort ...

I think this thread should not 'disappear', at least not yet.
Summer skiing near Vienna:
Arriving at the "top"
My buddy Gerhard navigates the snow - he is in his second year of skiing. Please excuse his weird style ...
[the guy above Gerhard is not 'raxing' but 'big footing' although this happens to be near the highest peak of the Rax massif]

Marius..peep this thread to get the DL on CM. [ame="http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=161805"](THREAD)[/ame]
As for PDS it FULLY opens up in two weeks, but watch out for the Passport days. If you come down this way give us a heads up. We will be hitting the FR side next week, Les Get/Morzine, and then two weeks after (Passport is the weekend in between) the Champery side.

Wow. These pics from Norway look like they are from dreamland ... Awesome.
To contrast: the summer is in full swing here in central Europe ...

marius, definitely let's hook up if you come to the PdS area, let us know. crans is pretty sick too! the bike park is at the base of the cry d'er lift, the only lift for bikes. there are only two DH/FR trails open but they are super fun and loooong. if you can, swing by there for a day or two before hitting PdS.

not really. i think they (like most places) frown on mixing hikers with bikers. having said that, i did accidentally head down a hiking trail in the forest but the hiker was very nice about it. there might be some variations to do once you get in the forest but we pretty much stayed on the main 2 courses.
not big enough to stay a week, but for a weekend its great.
